  1. Minimal action around my way too. Whilst it's been a good cold spell, I'm left feeling a bit underwhelmed again seeing epic snowfalls seemingly everywhere else. Still, only 25 years give or take a few to the next similar event!!
  2. Because Injury lawyers 4 u or some such similar scab will be more than happy to squeeze the school for a good few k when little Johnny slips and grazes his knee due to snow, such a pathetic society we now live in in that respect. Sad times - we used to have fun at school in the snow and a fall was part and parcel of it and learning how the world works.
  3. Still only a bit of snow here. Im the opposite of the crowded house song. If I was back in Essex, Cambridgeshire would be 2 feet deep minimum now guaranteed! A walking severe weather shield I am!
  4. Fairly poor back home again in St Neots and it looks set to miss out on any epic snowfalls this week - pretty impressive just now at work in London though - such a rare sight here and looks fantastic so at least I have my snow fix. Overall a massively improved winter this time around, can't complain from an imby perspective even though I'd like more!
  5. How does one measure snow that's only 1 grain deep but has gaps between grains- does it get smoothed out or is it the height of the grain? This is the localised dilemma the beast has caused.
  6. I moved there/here a few months ago and I love snow - what a mistake, worse than Billericay!! In fairness the start of December was pretty good!! It's just started snowing now though as I type.. little balls of ice bouncing around. Yay.
  7. So I move from SW Essex which has been pretty poor in recent years for snow to Cambridgeshire and yep Essex gets the snow and amber warnings I'm in one of the few spots being missed. Surprise, surprise, I swear I'm a mobile weather shield with just the occasional puncture. zzzzz.
  8. I think he's perfect where he is in the short term model output personally, where the good work is being kept up imo - realistic time frame weather with our very own presenter, I'll take that. Not jumping on the cold bandwagon = biased
  9. Absolutely stunning charts for coldies...just around the corner once again...I can feel it drawing me in like Frodo and his ring, the lure, the tease... surely this time right? Must resist the models... let's hope this is the one but I'll restrain myself for now.
  10. Like a stopped clock etc it'll come right eventually one year and one of the models will be king for a week as it was the first to predict it etc, etc. It's interesting from a psychological point of view and if you strip away the weather aspect, it's like so many other forums, from buying shares to football- the big one/win/rise/cold/storm is always just around the corner!! Jam tomorrow. I'll stick to the reliable time frame.
  11. Ice & other genuine hazards yes, but some gentle drizzle? Hmm.
  12. There were the usual warnings at Kings Cross last week (it was drizzling) due to the "inclement weather" and the chance of slipping or getting wet, blah, blah - I honestly don't know how we all survived before these warnings - I took the necessary action of course and put on my extra grip shoes just in case. Everywhere you go not its endless inane announcements in case someone wants to sue, so sad.
  13. Not sure if it’s clear on these but just seen my first ever snowbow! Chuffed!
  14. And another one here who couldn't tell the difference between cloud/snow/sun very well. Tweakage needed.
  15. It's been very seasonal as far as I'm concerned imby and even with a smattering of early season snow so a nice change but sadly it is another quite snowless year over all for most- how many more years of it before it's beyond being classed as a phase? Hopefully it is just that but I think not based purely on my own observations and nothing more scientific. Same can be said for the decline of storms in summer. Looking forward to Spring now after the latest let down model wise. Least I wasn't reeled in like I used to be back in the day. Enjoy your flurries those that get them.
  16. Damn and here's me sitting in London missing it!! Worked from home yesterday (no snow) and people in London office were telling me it was snowing. Grrrrr!
  17. Briefly logging on- is backtrack number 40 of the past decade happening yet or are we still on for the intense cold?
  18. A great thread/read, so nice to be able to read about weather in the more reliable timeframe, thanks.
