  2. Its a bit new Gibby, still setting it up.Hadn't noticed that thou, another thing on the list to resolve. F
  3. Temp 6.1c Dewpoint 3c and pressure bottomed out at 978mb. Still can't get the rain gauge to work. grr!
  4. Its the type that hits the window and helps with the decision whether to stay in bed or not!
  5. I understand your pain, I lived in Portsmouth for 15 years as a child and the number of times the rest of the country was under a blanket of snow whilst we had cold rain was devastating for me. When we moved to Bristol I was told "yes, they loads of snow" - and yes it is better but no winter wonderland either.
  6. Does appear to be some lightning strikes associated with the front approaching overnight, its currently over western Ireland. Better get some sleep now, it could be an early wake up call. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/observations/#?tab=map&map=Lightning&fcTime=1359543313&zoom=5&lon=-4.00&lat=54.63
  7. I seem to have 2c and sleet for Friday. Edit - Ah I see what you have done, yes mine says the same if you just look at the day rather than the hours breakdown.
  8. Its an Oregon WMR86_UV. Thought I would upgrade from the old £25 job from ebay. Looking forward to comparing temps to the old one as well. Large rain drops thumping on the windows now, no sferics though. Can't complain after earlier.
  9. Yes it probably was that time, there have been so many on this estate they all blur into each other. Maybe it was the wine! lol. Well this has been a good start to 2013, all we need now is thundersnow.
  10. It usually strikes something near the golf club which kills our power. Although we do get regular powercuts, regardless of storms being about or not. One evening we were all sat out in the road with glasses of wine waiting for it to come back on. Rather civilised!
  11. Oh you got the power cut, I saw that happen, was looking out of the back window. Ring road lights flickered but we were fine for once. I get so many power cuts here, actually keep my head torch to hand at all times. Fab storm! Hope nothing was struck, did sound like it with one strike though.
  12. From our Ian on Twitter. Ian Fergusson â€@fergieweather Some potent thundery downpours moving E now through Bristol Channel/ S Wales. Could get lively into N Somerset/Bristol & environs.
  13. Its getting closer... Richard Mayled â€@trickyweather70 Lightning now in Merthyr
  14. Richard Mayled â€@trickyweather70 Thunderstorms now breaking out in South Wales Lets hope they float this way!
  15. Mine is outside, its a non named ebay purchase for £25 so its doing quite well and yes it is wireless, transmits through the double glazing no issues. The batteries have to be replaced regularly when the weather is sustained at around 1c or lower like recently. So I have been using Lithium Ion rechargeables which last longer. -4.9c now. Left Horfield at -2c, rose to 0c by the M32, back to -4.9c when I got home.
  16. -3c here, new weather station ordered "Oregon Scientific WMR86_UV" so hoping to be more accurate in the future.
  17. Just popped out to Sainsburys here in Stoke Gifford, can tell the dew point has dropped its bone chilling cold out there and the snow is only slowly thawing, and then only on tarmac and man made stone structures in some spots. Its going to be mighty cold tonight if it stays clear.
  18. I did my first timelapse earlier this evening of the snow, around 30 seconds its quite interesting. Hope you like it. Mark
  19. You must have been there around about the same time as me then, I was surprised how much was settling. I have just poked my head out of the window and it sounds like rain but I cannot see any falling except snow. But that make sense as its fairly wet snow.
  20. oh your near my local then - White Harte (I say local, we drive to it!)
