The stream is showing a nice storm developing, will stay glued as long as I can, good luck! :-)
-
Hope you guys have a great day. Will try and catch you on streaming.
-
Nice charts Tom :-)
-
Looks as if things are starting to get interesting out there. SPC have severe risk for Saturday and Sunday. These have been downgraded in the past but let's keep our fingers x'd! Hope you have a great chase guys and girls :-)

Great to see the streaming is working well this evening :-) Great quality, will watch again as and when I can.

It's really kicking off over there now, looks as if Oklahoma City and other areas of the State are in real trouble tonight. I'll have to check in the morning, can't stay up all night unfortunately.

Hi Ollie
April is usually better than May for stronger outbreaks but the time between Storm Systems and also the lack of Upslope deters tours from starting until the Middle or last third of the month, but if you hit it right April can be a belter of a month. I tend to list the best months for tornadoes as May first and April and June equal 2nd, there really is not a lot in it apart from geographical location and storms speeds etc, eg you are more than likely going to be chasing in the Panhandles of Texas and Okie, Southern Plains and the Ozarks in April and in the Dakotas and the High Plains in June.
Cheers Paul
Thanks for your comments, it's good to learn even more :-) May catch you in the High Plains then at the end of May-beginning June.
-
It looks like another good week in the Plains, April seems to of been a great month over the last couple of years. I just hope this strong activity carries on during the rest of the spring, would be a nightmare if it tailed off again during May. Here's hoping! :-)

I love the new site, especially the blog about storm chasing and what to look out for. I'll keep an eye on it as it evolves :-)

Tornado reported on the ground, Vernon County, Louisiana. Current Tornado warnings in force around the same area.
-
Keep an eye out for the end of next week, around Arkansas/Mississippi, severe outbreak looking more likely :-)
-
Nice vehicle chaps - looking forward to following the tour. Good luck to all and hope you bag some nice storms.
Tom
Cheers Tom. Looking pretty quite the first few days, lets hope it picks up later in the weekend :-)

First Morning in DFW After a straight Forward Flight yesterday.
Nice little MCS Rumbled through DFW Last Night so after something to eat we went South a Bit to Grand Prairie and got some Lightning practise in. Unfortunately too much time was spent looking for a decent view and we missed probably 4 or 5 multiple Cloud to Tower Strikes before getting the 1 we did. After that was too knackered and just hit the sack.
Today we might venture out into West Texas and see if anything from an Easterly Upslope in New Mexico can form and move eastwards, Large Hail and Structure would be the main threats.
It is looking increasingly likely now that we will be heading North for the coming weekend, and if the Storms dont fire the Aurora might - Lol
Couple of Pictures to get you started.
1 of the Lightning last night and 1 of the Chase Wagon!
- Brand New GMC Yukon with Leather Interior and Air Con Seats - Nice!
Paul S
Nice wheels and even better lightning! See you guys tomorrow afternoon at the car rental area.

Hmmm Interesting SPC 4-8 Day SWODY
Seems some Northern Plains action from some energy still associated with the Pacific Front which has been up there for an eternity.
Problem is the Risk zone is for Thursday 10th which will be our first Chase Day Proper, so we could have 2 scenarios here
a, The Zone extends further South into Nebraska and the Dakota's and we pick up the guys and burn off 5-6 hours getting to South Central Kansas around Midnight Wednesday Night.
b, There will probably be a risk zone further East across the Upper Mississippi Valley for Friday 11th and we head towards Kansas City.
Scenario A Will be rough on the guys as it will feel like 6am in the Uk by the time we get up there at Midnight, but me and Dave will be fresh for the driving, I am sure the guys can kip in the back on the way up and would not forego chase opportunities ??
At least we are starting to talk about risks already in another wise supposed dead pattern
Will be monitoring the situation and might cancel the first nights stay (Wed 9th May) in the Best Western at Irving.
Hi Paul,
Tim and I had a chat last night and him and I are fine either senario a. or b. Tim and I might have a snooze in the car, I doubt it though as I think the adrenaline will keep us awake! :-) Whatever you think is best for storm chances is good for us, although i'm not sure what the other guy would prefer. Anyway, off to work now, my last day before we leave :-) Will keep in eye out on here, have a great flight guys, see you in Dallas! :-)

Hi all
Here is a link to my lightning photography tutorial
Feel free to browse and I hope it is of some use to you all
Thanks alot Dave for posting the file, I've printed it off and will take it with me on Wednesday. I always seem to struggle when trying to capture the perfect shot of lightning, in fact, any shot at all!

There's the GFS ones here http://www.netweathe...usacharts;sess=
I use http://www.twisterdata.com for the RUC and NAM models, it also has the GFS too
Thanks for that Smokes, will help me to work things out :-)

From what I can see on the weather.com website (i'm only an amateur) :-) the early indications for storms in the Dallas at the start of tour 2, area look good for when we arrive and the day after at least. What do you guys think? I can't seem to find many charts online for when we arrive. Am I looking in the wrong place?
-
As Staff we have to Test Out And blow away the Cobwebs from the year before making sure all the equipment is in good working order..............So seeing as we arrive on the 7th to Set-Up and the Boys on Tour 1 do not arrive until Afternoon on the 9th I have Ordered A Nice Little Practise Session on Tuesday 8th May, Might even let Dave Do The Target and Run The Chase For This One, and seeing as I am sitting next to him I can Slap Him If he makes the wrong moves - Pmsl Hope This Verifies but still 7 Days Out!
Hope the practice goes well guys, we'll be relying on you that it does And don't get each other nerves yet, we want both of you with us! lol
-
Evening guys, just started raining, looks as if we're going to have a deluge here in Bristol (another one!) within an hour. Lets hope for some lightning too :-)
Looks as if it you're sending it this way lfcdude :-)

Hi guys, have just received my final info pack before I head off with Tim also from Bristol next Wednesday. Its all becoming a bit scary but my adrenaline is starting to pump already....I wonder what state i'll be in if a tornado appears!! Maybe Kansas lol. I might look at the forcast before we go, but maybe some suspense will be good :-) Cheers guys for all your posts on here, it's great to know a bit more about what to expect before going out.
-
Eye's on the model time!
I hate this bit.......from now on in I will be glued to the model runs! Still early days for T2 though!
Know what you mean mate, although all new to me. Have seen a 3 month forcast for general weather patterns over the U.S for the next 3 months on weather.com. Think i'll reserve judgement for now! Tim and I will see you on the 9th, can't wait! :-)
-
Just a little word of WARNING guys. When applying for the ESTA don't use usaeservices.com If you do you'll be paying $59 for an ESTA which should cost $14! Just follow the link from your airline and you should be fine. I'm hoping to get a refund on my mistake. Am keeping my fingers crossed!

Hey Paul, not long until tour 2 now :-) Thanks for keeping us updated with how things look in advance, I know it will be a great experience whatever the weather will be :-) I'll keep checking back here very frequently! lol.

Liking the video diary Tom, the low level moisture is looking good :-) Hope you manage to get north in time to make the most of the moderate risk :-) 3 of us will be out tomorrow, can't wait!!
