I'm sure I heard several distant rumbles of thunder to the SE of me.The sky has turned very black and threatening in that direction.Just starting to rain as well.
-
Another sharp crack of thunder in Derby, didn't see any lightning this time though,Still feeling very humid even in the gusty wind.
-
Heavy shower to my Nw with a sharp crack of thunder and one flash of lightning.Wind really picked up too,and just started to rain.
-
Those red x's on the lightning chart just north of Derby are right over my house!!,some really good lightning here and really sharp cracks of thunder in pretty heavy rain!!.Things are looking up!!.😀😀⚡☔

Just had 2 almighty flashes and crashes here, first since around 8pm.Very sharp claps of thunder!!,maybe things are looking up after all.😀😀

-

Looks like something could be brewing east of me,Nottingham way maybe.Would you agree Supacell?!
-
Clouds definitely building here now, moving steadily Nw.

Hope the storms develop, good luck.Spenna '82, sorry I was driving back from work so couldn't answer your question on the last thread. Yes if the storms fire up I will be chasing tonight, I am hoping to have the opportunity to stay very local, somewhere like the Chevin gives a good view point south as do high up villages such as Heage. However, if I need to head further afield then i will do

Are you going chasing Supacell, was thinking of going up to Alport Heights masts above Ambergate to get a decent view should anything develop later.Depends on the forecaster. Jay Wynne often plays down potential whereas Tomasz Shaffernaker plays it up.Looking at northern France as an idea of whats to come I can see things going bang big style.

Jay Wynee has just been on BBC news didn't even mention Thunderstorms for the next 24 hours.Instead he mentioned thundery showers moving NE through the early hours and clearing in to the North Sea.They will be then be replaced by heavy thundery rain moving up from the south with the risk of local flooding through tomorrow. So not as enthusiastic as I was earlier today, but hey who knows!!.

Well what a difference 300 miles can make to the weather!.Woke up in Newquay to sunny skies with a temperature of 27 degrees with high humidity.Skies started to turn thundery around 2pm with cells popping up as we left.Arrive back in Derby at 8pm to grey skies and a temp of just 17 degrees, and it doesn't feel thundery or humid at all!!.
-
Getting considerably dark here from the SE had to put the warehouse lights on!!.
-
Sunny here in Derby Supacell.Skies still look thundery to my south.Hopefully the heat will get things going later.
-
Something starting to happen here in the East Midlands.Big dark clouds starting to bubble up blocking out the sun. Most threatening I've seen for a fair few days, who knows....
-
Skies have turned really threatening here, and the wind has really picked up in strength.Just had a splattering of really large raindrops which has turned into a hefty shower, but no thunder as yet.
