  1. Torrential rain and hail here for about 40 minutes between 12.50 and 13.30 today. Strong westerly gusts throughout that period and temperatures down to 5c. Now recovered to 9c and light rain showers. Windy and still gusts around 33kts.
  2. Measured snow depth at 22:00 hrs yesterday was 11cm here but snow was very light and temp -0.1c This morning the snow or rather slush depth is 5cm Temp is now 3c and snow thawing very rapidly.
  3. Continuous light snow 2cm of laying snow - very wet Temp 0.2c
  4. Small snow flakes for over an hour now. Temp o.1c Snow now lying on all surfaces except roads
  5. Moderate wet snow falling here now Temp 1.1c
  6. Temp dropped to 1.8c Light sleet/frozen drizzle/ice pellets? falling for the last 20 mins Raw feeling SSE wind 15kts
  7. Temp 2c Rain and blobs of sleet falling here. Heavy rain overnight and gusty winds but winds have eased at present
  8. Thunderstorm here in the last hour. Quite localised two CB cells that developed over Uttoxeter and travelled north overhead here. Torrential rain for around 15 minutes. Cells have moved to the north east towards Ripley/Matlock area and no thunder heard since 18:50
  9. Very sharp thunderstorm passing quickly here at 11.15 am 11.20am - nearby cloud to ground lightning took out the power for about 1 minute. Now restored, hence this post Lots of cb anvils all around with some very large CB to my south towards Uttoxeter. Distant thunder still rumbling
  10. Overcast Poor Visibility Temp 12.6c Press: 1012 Continuous light rain
  11. ThanksNot much detail yet thoughEye witness on Radio 5 has said the funnel did not touch down.Seen about 10 miles west of Peterborough apparently.
  12. Radio has anounced that a tornado has formed in the peterborough area. Can anyone confirm this?
  13. Thunderstorm in progress since 16:30 with continuous moderate rain and intermitent lightning. We had a power cut for around 5 minutes at 17:25. I understand there has been a rumour of a tornado report in Tipton - must watch the news shortly.
  14. 4cm of lying snow overnight but now melting in the sun. Wind is NW and lighter tha yesterday. Shower clouds starting to build towards Cheshire. Temperature fell to minus 1c last night
  15. Snow is now larger flakes and moderate rather than light. Temperature has dipped to 0.0c Snow is now starting to stick and road surfaces starting to slush up - snow rate now over powering the salt effect. Gusty East wind developing
  16. Wet snow falling here for about 1 hour. Temp is +0.5c and there is a slow thaw of yesterday's snow. Larger flakes for about the last 15 minutes and now slightly heavier. No road problems here. Although yestedays salt was ineffective as the temperature was below minus 2c mots of the day, today the temperature at around zero has resulted in melting of laying ice and snow. Cannot see any road problems developing unless there is a massive snow dumping in a short space of time that might "over-power" the salt effect.
  17. Snow fall totals 5cm yesterday with mostly light snow falling from 6am yesterday to 8 pm. Temp peaked at minus 0.5c at 9pm yesterday and down to minus 2c this morning. Hazy this morning - could be interesting later today when the next weather system arrives from the south west.
  18. About 1cm of lying snow this morning - partly melted then frozen so plenty of ice first thing. Slight snow flurries throughout the morning but just cloudy and dry now. Snow has melted, air temp is 5c at 13.40hrs
  19. Snow overnight - mostly melted but some traces of slush left here first thing at dawn. Gusty NE wind and broken cloud has fed in intermittent light snow showers but not enough to settle. Temp is 2.5c at 12.36
  20. Heavy Rain and Sleet here for the last 10 minutes. Temp is 2.5c
  21. Hi Sleet and hail showers here at around 4pm yesterday from shallow cb arranged in a line. Not sure on temperature but around 4c after the showers had finished. Its the best we have seen so far
  22. Thunderstorm nearby for the last hour or so. Moderate rain but low cloud base means I cannot confirm which direction. Burton on Trent has had an overhead storm about an hour ago. Still rumbling probably to the northeast towards Belper area
  23. Clear just some cirrus to the south and south west. Wind SE - 10-15kts Temp is 29.5c Unusual heat for this area. Reminds me of Cyprus!
  24. Sunny and hot 26.1c Altocum to the east Light variable wind - humidity is down to 48% Small cumulus development to S and SW
  25. Light rain showers now. Cloud base has broken into altocumulus and clearer to the south. Maybe back to surface heating soon if the sky continues to clear.
