    Temp 23.5c RH57% Light Easterly breeze Cloudy - medium level altostratus - left overs from earlier storms reported around Tamworth/Burton on Trent No local convection but strong development on the horizon to SW - probably Wales - where the cloud sheet has not cut off heating from the sun. Was looking forward to all these forecasted storms - bah!

    Dull, rain most of the night after thunder showers with heavy hail yesterday evening. Temp is 8c Low stratus down to ground level so I am in hill fog. Spells of heavy drizzle - it feels more like December!

    Hi Agree with essexpaul about the herbs. I bought some last year and grew them on light soil in large pots on a sunny patio. Kept the heaviest rain off them and they grew really well. Most have survived overwintering with light protection and are now starting to grow again. Seems to me its all about the soil and growing conditions even if they were forced for the supermarket customer. Bit of TLC and you can still get a decent herb plant.

    sorry about that - the system is not formatting properly on my screen so bear with me if this does not format properly. The soil in my garden is still really cold and wet so I am going to have a bash at radishes grown in a 12 inch pot. I treid this last year but they were destroyed by some kind of fly. This year I am going to dust the soil surface with SYBOL Soil Pest killer - not really organic approach I know, but I really want to eat the radishes not the fly grubs!!

    Light freezing rain and blobs of sleet falling here Temp is 0c Most surfaces are covered with a thin layer of ice. very slippery except where roads have been gritted

    Heavier showers of snow grains in the last 15 mins. Just a covering on the ground. Temp has fallen to minus 3c Wind is SE approx 12 kts

    Overcast and light snow falling since dawn. Some dusting blowing around on the ground. Bitter wind Temp minus 1c at 8.45am Lighter sky to the south west - I think we have missed the main system here!

    Temp here is -0.5c Snow grains still falling from an overcast sky - although the weather is starting to clear. At 7.20 we had moderate snow and fog - cloud base lower than my location. Easterly wind picking up as 10-15kts. 2.5cm of lying snow even on roads.

    Sorry about the late posts 21 Feb - Light snow and hail showers throughout the day - nothing settled 22 Feb - Light snow on and off throughtout the day again - no settling but wet on the ground. Today - Temp at 7.45am was 0c and we have had about an hour of snow - larger flakes than the last two days. We have a thin covering about 1cm on all surfaces. Sky is overcast and a light northerly wind about 5kts as opposed to last two days of north easterly at about 15-20kts

    Light snow grains here at 7.20am Temperature is +0.5c Lots of shallow cumulus streaming in from the north east.

    A light dusting of snow grains on the ground this morning which has melted through the day. Light showers of snow grains until about 10am then dry and cloudy. Yesterday we had snow grains falling all day but no more than temporary light coverings. Temperature has hovered at minus 1c to plus 1c throughout the last 48 hours. Maybe we will be lucky with rather more snow tomorrow as per the snow risk alert issued.

    Heavy rain here since 10am. Sleet between 8.30 and 10am with freezing rain?(ice pellets) Snow up to 8.30am About 1cm of lying snow at 8.30am A dusting of snow has not melted since falling on 27 Dec. My neighbour tells me we had 3 short heavy snow showers that only resulted on about 1/2cm on the ground - and I have been away until yesterday and missed it!! Yesterday say a minimum of minus 7c and maximum of minus 4.5c with some very light snow falling during the evening through freezing fog.

    Temp at 9am is minus 3c Three showers of snow grains today so far. Roads slught dusting over sheet ice - we have no gritters yet! Plenty of large cloud and embedded CB to the east and south-east. Looks like east midlands area for more snow

    Minus 2c at 8am A few snow grains overnight, increasing layer of cirrostratus to the west and north. this morning Yesterday's snow showers left 4cm of lying snow - roads here are icy despite some gritting.

    Light snow now falling here for about 15 mins. Temp -0.7c Wind northerly 10kts Increasing small cumulus and strato-cumulus to the north heading this way. Now much heavier snow showers - already dusting and blowing on the ground

    Weather fair with high cloud moving from NNE Lower wind NW 10-15kts Pressure 992mb falling Temp is -3.4c down to -4.1c last night. Just a few snow pellets from last night

    Dark areas of medium level cloud to the south (Uttoxeter) and very light variable winds Thunder now very distant but continuous mod rain. Look like Southern Peak District will get mostly rain and not much action.

    Update - cloud to cloud lightning and long rumbles of thunder , still moderate rain but the wind has dropped. Temp 16c

    Thunder in the distance. Total cloud cover now and moderate rain. Wind form the SW about 10kts but a squall preceded the rain. Thunder sounds like its towards Burton on Trent
