  1. Best bet now for NE England areas like here is the southern edge of the storms in Lancashire and Chester to maintain their intensity as they track NE wards during the rest of this afternoon. A long shot, but that's my last straw to cling on to now!
  2. Those storms around Leicester heading up just south of Lincoln look very serius indeed! I'm almost, almost thankful we've missed the severe stuff here. I think on balance though I'd rather be under the supercell
  3. Absolutely semolina here today. Great reading other reports and seeing the occasional picture or video, but we had a really good chance today, and barring something cropping up out of nowhere, we're going to get Lettuce all, which is bitterly disappointing. I knew the really severe stuff wouldn't hit here - that was always an Central and Eastern England event, but still - a regular summer thunderstorm would have been nice!
  4. Radar looks disappointing here at the moment. Really could do with something stormy developing SW of here during the next few hours before the cold front puts a lid on everything. The storms around the NW'ern coasts look great but won't be affecting here.
  5. Heavy shower underway here - it got here quickly! Off to meeting now
  6. A couple of heavy showers have suddenly sprung up to the south of here. Looking out from the café at work and it looks pretty dark towards the transporter bridge. I'm having a meeting in the cafe in 10 minutes so should get a great view of any electrical activity (keeps fingers crossed!) The cell leaving Manchester heading up this way is looking good, too Hopefully I'll have something to report in an hour or so, when I'm back on my office computer
  7. I'm watching what is developing on the northwestern side of the Midlands storm (around Manchester way). I'm itching to get in on the action this afternoon! We had a few spits and spots of rain earlier tbut that has cleared and the sun is out again - it's very warm and humid
  8. This ^ Thoroughly enjoying the reports this morning. Hopefully we'll see some strong storms up here in the north east as the afternoon progresses!
  9. FOr those still ahead of the front and not had anything yet: its 10:05am by my watch. No need to panic just yet
  10. Shout out to all my homies in Sheffield/Chesterfield and in general South Yorks and peak District area. Hope you see an epic storm today! It's been a terrific morning reading this forum so far - the lightning detector image is stunning, and it should only get better
  11. Cmon Carol get on with the weather, this isn't cbeebies!
  12. Good morning all The sun is out here (sort of) Should be a fun day, whatever happens! Amazing to hear talk of supercells and the possibility of a strong tornado somewhere today Stay safe!
  13. Very impressive charts, Aaron. Looks like an upgrade on what I last saw. How exciting! I have meetings this morning up until about 1:30pm- they'll have to forgive me if I don't remember what was discussed!
  14. Wow that is a beauty! Must remember not to get carried away now! Easier said than done
  15. Oooh could we be that lucky!? One can hope. ECM certainly is more positive this evening, lets hope it stays that way!
  16. How Scilly of me! My blank "UK" map didn't include them, so apologies. For anyone in the Shetlands and the Scilly Isles - you too are at risk from thunderstorms!
  17. From Liam Dutton's twitter. Looking lively for Northern England later tomorrow!
  18. In light of the evening televised forecasts and updated NMM, etc, I have decided to go ahead and produce a detailed risk map of where storms could fire during the next 36 hours. Take this with a pinch of salt, it is by no means going to turn out like this, but I hope I haven't left anyone out who feels they might get a storm
  19. If you're still browsing - 10 years does sound a bit unbelievable for others, especially as Kent isn't exactly a bad place to be for storms. Has it just been a combination of bad luck, wrong place wrong time thing? I assume you have actually seen, or at least made an effort to see lightning over the channel. I wonder if you're referencing the fact you haven't had an overhead storm in all that time? Some clarification would be nice, that's all - you can see why it is a surprising statement!
  20. Kain no-one is taking the pee out of you! Yes you were referencing C5 forecasting storms in your area, but the joke was Supacell has been umming and ahhing over travelling down to the SW, and with Channel 5 forecasting thunderstorms in the west, that would sway Supacell to jump in his car and travel down. We're lightly knocking Channel 5, if anything No wonder so many posts get deleted in here, it's like some are specifically looking to start an argument! Definitely one to watch
  21. Kain he was replying to my jokey post, not yours Calm down calm down!
  22. There you go Supacell, Channel 5 have jumped on the thunderstorm bandwagon, I expect you'll be setting off about now...
