Sat24 shows the back edge of the cloud cover crossing the Humber at around 12pm so we may indeed get some sun this afternoon.
-
Well it is suppose to brighten up here according to all the forecasts I've looked at this morning.
Looking at the radar that could be from around lunchtime.
Until then it's cold, windy and grey. Very grey.
-
Well despite it looking like it could it never did clear up today. Instead we had heavy drizzle and an increase in the cold easterly wind. Tomorrow looks a little worse. Great.

Another dawn of grey from horizon to horizon and its still damp. Will it clear? Looking at sat24 it might burn off but then Monday was sunny...

Its the endless damp that bothers me. It seems to seep into everything. Including my bones!

B87 How do the americans measure their sunshine hours? In what way is it different?
-
East Lancs Rain Seattle is one of the USA's dullest cities but still gets on average 20% more annual sunshine than London.

Stabilo19 Goodness me, London only 1674 hours of annual sunshine on average. Compare that to the following (lifted from Wikipedia)...
Warsaw - 1997 hours
Moscow - 1901 hours
Stockholm - 1803 hours
Pittsburgh - 2021 hours (dullest city in N.America?)
Copenhagen - 1912 hours
Puts things into perspective.

Woke up to yet more rain hammering on the roof. Maybe I should start growing rice!
markyo Except there wasn't much heat in the summer months last year.

Not a bad day here in Leeds but with rain forecast everyday now for the rest of the week its back to square one.
-
After a 'dry' forecast we have rain again although it is light & patchy. No wind but very damp everywhere.

Ha, me and my big mouth! It's now hammering it down.

Came home to find patches of snow still around in gardens and on cars left parked up. Local roads around the airport area resemble streams especially Carlton village and east Chevin road where it’ll run off the land for weeks. No more rain now please, not a drop until April.

An absolute slush fest out there now. Currently 2 degrees in rain mixed with todays dumping means rivers down the roads.
-
Bradowl It was and still is!

It started here around 9am and is still coming down. Not that much in the centre of Leeds but up here (200m) we’ve had a good 4 inches or so.
-
Boy the next 36 hours look grim.

What has northern England done to upset the weather gods? Have a look at the rain radar. Another band of rain cutting the UK in half & straight over the top of us. You couldn't make it up. Some want to emigrate to better climes but this winter I could just move 100 miles north or south!
-
Northern England getting hammered again by a band of heavy rain. It's beyond a joke now. Just not funny anymore.

Still raining with a heavy burst now lashing against a northerly facing window. It hasn't stopped since 5am but the radar finally shows it could be gone in the next hour or so. No more rain now please for the next 10 days!

@SunnyG Enjoy it while you can. It's been raining here for 9 hours +.

A very wet journey into Leeds this morning and the amount of standing water & large puddles was quite considerable. If it continues all day then I suspect they'll be problems for some. I'm sick of this constant rain. Why does it always seem to be northern England that gets hammered?

Heavy rain since 5am and according to the forecast about another 14 hours of it to come.
