I think it is a good idea if netweather could develop a feature where by you can fast forward the rain radar into the future
Quite often for planned outdoor events etc it's important to find out when a rain band is going to arrive in your area - for example a rain band affecting SW England at 3 am moving into the Midlands at 6 am and affecting NE at 10 am.
Even if it's not a main band of rain moving in - it would be good if you can fast forward the radar into future time to see when heavy showers or storms are going to affect your location
I know you can rewind back the radar to see when rain fell - but I think it's more useful to do the opposite as a forecasting tool
Hope you find this idea useful
The android app radar is a great idea to view rain and storm details without loading the website link to the radar
But i hope you are aware that there is a discrepancy between the radar data for the android app and the website radar data at the same time - the android app radar data lags behind slightly and the website radar data is more up-to-date
Thanks for the reply
I can confirm that I am using the uk forecast for town and city forecasts and for wolverhampton it is accurate today - yesterday evening it was showing showers for today but this has been updated today to correctly show a dry day
Can you tell me what times roughly the forecast data are updated - it is mentioned 4 times a day but approximately what times of the day is data updated
Thanks Sriram
Currently 22 degrees and sunny in wolverhampton but net weather has cloudy and 17or 18c
Showers forecast for tomorrow but in reality is expected to be warm and sunny
Would be grateful if you can advise on the accuracy of net weather short and long range town and city forecasts
Thanks sriram
yes the overlay map with temps shown as numbers - i didnt know the numbers indicated locations of reporting weather stations - and that some dont report all the time
just noticed there are siginificant errors in some data on the map which shows temperatures as numbers. 1c is shown in Milton keynes when I zoom in and 0c in Swindon - obviously wrong when surrounding areas are 7 8 or 9c
hope you are aware of this fault
Phone is samsung galaxy s3 mini
Browser is internet explorer
What i dont understand is that i have not had this problem before on this browser - but at the moment when i try and scroll all that happens is that the page containing the inset map and the netwweather feature buttons moves up and down
When I view the radar - zoom is fine - but how do I move the map north south east west ?
When I slide my finger up down right or left what happens is that the inset containing the map moves - I cannot change directions
Regarding the wind gust map - as it is in knots - is this the same as mph
Its just that all media forecasts mention wind speeds mph - knots is more to do with boat and ship speed - so it would be good if this reflected these units
I guess the temp profile map is in degrees celsius - correct ?
how often are they updated - and which models are used - is it a consensus of model data Sometimes I find the data at odds - the other day there was sunny intervals but the forecast showed a cloudy icon
Can you tell me how this is generated ?
Quite often 30 or 40% is shown - I would have thought that storm chances are pretty much nil now with no heat or humidity to fuel storms - and that this indicator really comes into its own between late spring and summer when storm chances are at their greatest
On days with lots of rain like recently when you switch an overlay on like temperature you cannot see the temperature profile map with the colours because it is obscured by the radar precipitation
If the developers could develop an option where by you can switch off the radar so you can view the overlays without anything being obscured that will be great
Thanks Sriram
I would just like to add that mozilla works fine for forecast data for the correct city - this is a problem associated with the standard android browser - I have just tested this - thanks
I think the forecast data icon alignment problem has been resolved - if so that is good
But I have found a new fault - when I type in city name say Wolverhampton in the box - on clicking the tomorrow tab I get forecast data for the city of London
I hope you are aware of this problem
I have a samsung s3 mini with latest android version.
When you type in a town name and view the forecast data for today, tomorrow etc - the icons are not aligned with the data headings - you have to swipe left and right so that for example humidity data appears under its heading
It is quite difficult to see what the data is where its misaligned to its heading
Is this a fault - or is it supposed to be like this
Just a bit of advise for the netweather development team. Can you add a facility where you can view the temperature profile map only and not the radar precipitation
The problem is on days with heavy rain and you switch the temperature overlay on - you cannot see the temperature colours on the map as it is obscured by the radar precipitation
I hope the developers take this on board
thanks
on loading the radar page - the map and radar info do not appear quite often on G and 3G and E connections If there is a H connection the radar loads better I think its something to do with internet connection you connect to while on the move - as the radar is very useful when on the move to track rain and storms etc As you say this is not an android problem - you have confirmed there have been no upgrades to make the radar work on new android operating system phones only
I have noticed that there are currently viewing problems quite often of the radar on a samsung galaxy ace with an old version of android on all browsers What is the best browser to have to make the radar work effectively on a phone with an old version of android ? Has the radar been changed so that it only works reliably on phones with the new version of android ?
