  1. It seems as though we may see a warm up as the week progresses. Its been fairly miserable here today, plenty of cloud and rain about. Not too warm either, temperatures topped about 14*C I think, with more rain expected tonight and tomorrow.
  2. A calm and dry day today, not much rain about. The clean-up here in Douglas is still underway, although it could take several weeks. The main shopping centre in town has been utterly ruined, it could take weeks before its up and running again. Cloudy at the moment in a moderate south-westerly breeze. Temperature 13*C.
  3. Some really torrential rain here in Cork last night, and a very powerful thunderstorm. The power went out for a good while earlier this morning, and there's been some severe flooding here in Douglas, as well as other parts of County Cork. The water is nearly 2 feet deep in parts: Apparently Clonakilty in West Cork was hit badly, as well as parts of Northern Ireland in Counties Down and Antrim. http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0628/heavy-rain-causes-flooding.html June has apparently, according to Met Eireann, been the wettest on record. Hope everyone's OK.
  4. Its been fairly dry for most of the day here, albeit cloudy, but the heavens have opened in the past half-hour (its stopped now). Seems our short lived heatwave is at an end, and the beginning of July doesn't look all that promising. Temperature 13*C in a moderate easterly breeze.
  5. I'd expect it to come in at around 16.1 or 2*C, but I'm hoping it turns out to be a nice 18*C. Probably unlikely but here's hoping.
  6. An overcast end to the day, with some drizzle here and there. Its much cooler though than yesterday, with temperature around 13-14*C for much of the day, as opposed to yesterday's 19*C in nice sunshine. Wind now a moderate south-easterly. Thanks Pomeroy, but we lost by a point yesterday unfortunately. Still a very tight and exciting match though!
  7. A partly cloudy day, with some sunny spells. Temperature around 15*C, with a moderate westerly breeze.
  8. Very poor day here in Cork today. A cool 13*C high, with rain nonstop from about 11 in the morning until about an hour ago. Still, looking fairly good tomorrow and much warmer, hopefully a good Cork vs Tip match!
  9. It looks as if the rain will clear overnight in Northern Ireland, for now. Believe me, we're usually in the firing line when it comes to cold and rain. Thank your lucky stars you don't have to put up with our weather unexciting (the dampest, dullest, least warm in summer, least cold in winter, least snowy, and usually least windy! Never fails to disappoint! )
  10. Well at the moment its looking slightly drier than average, but its also looking cooler than normal, so probably not a repeat of last year. Still, anything but the muck we usually get. Jamstech IOD model (Autumn 2012) Precipitation: Temperature: They're usually quite accurate when it comes to long-range forecasting it seems (they were right about the main part of the summer so far being damp and cool, although they are saying it should warm up later on. We shall see! )
  11. A dry and pleasant day here in Cork. It was sunny until about a half an hour ago before a rain shower appeared, but the sun is back out. Seems as if we're escaping the worst of the weather for once. 15*C, some cloud around, a moderate westerly breeze.
  12. A cool and overcast day, temperature about 13*C. The rain that has persisted since last night into today has cleared, but scattered showers persist. A moderate westerly breeze.
  13. Hi all, a fairly mixed day with some rain earlier on now clearing to some broken cloud, and some sunny intervals. Temperature about 15*C. Doesn't look like much of a let up in the wishy washy weather with more rain expected tonight and tomorrow. Greetings from Cork, the worst place to be in Ireland during a heatwave!
  14. Overcast, a few scattered showers, moderate southerly breeze, 14*C.
  15. Yes, Iceland and Greenland were very mild. The Jet Stream had extended so far North it had given them the air we usually get. Also interesting was that Spain and Portugal got some of their wettest Decembers on record, because the Jet Stream had been pushed south over them, sending all Atlantic depressions their way.
  16. I know, I'm so sorry! I haven't been following this forum much.
  17. Interesting to see that Madden has stated that the series of mild winters being predicted "will be incorrect". He usually will never be definite in his forecasts "I expect, it is likely, I strongly emphasise, the possibility etc." Not that I don't want a cold winter, but this is the man who went for a snowmageddon last year and got it wrong. He's also fairly vague and his forecasting is fairly basic "I expect to see high winds during the autumn and early winter" (fairly common every year). I suppose he's going easy on it this time. I had a fair bit of lols reading this: (https://sites.google.com/site/crabtreescompendiumofesoterica/predictions-for-2012-dated-thursday-december-1st-2011/2013-weather-geophysical-predictions) This guy makes Madden look like the Met Office!
  18. Mostly cloud, light southerly wind. About 13*C. A great improvement on yesterday, where it rained for virtually the entire day.
