Tail end of the storm came through with pea sized hail, and extremely gusty winds. The rain was coming down almost horrizontal. A little bit of blue sky above us now, but some towering cumulus to the north heading this way. I don't think the fun is over yet.

I'll add the first storm report of the day. Something HUGE just came through Scarborough despite nothing showing up on the metoffice radar. Frequent heavy Thunder, and absolutely torrential monsoon like rain. I've only ever seen Rain this heavy in videos of hurricanes and the like, we must have had an inch already. First bout started at 12:10 and had an amazing blinding cloudburst for 5 minutes, then after that we've had just downpour after downpour, with Thunder picking up around 12:25. I certainly wasn't expecting this when I watched the weather this morning

Hate to tell you, but your son's friend didn't take those pictures They are all from Extreme Instability, taken by Mike Hollingshead in and around Nebraska, USA. Nice pics though B)

I just noticed this on the SPC website too. Looks like a monster supercell. I hope soemones close by to document it (But not too close with baseball size hail

Just had hail and a rumble of thunder here in Scarborough. 12:50 pm

Saturday is looking very promising for some severe weather. Any chance you'll make it to the US in time to chase these storms or have you got things to do on the Saturday you arrive?

Snowing here for 15 minutes now. A healthy covering on the minor road behind my house My camera has run out of battery though so no pics for now...

Been Hailing and Snowing all day down the east coast, with little bits of brilliant sunshine between the storms. Got cought in some monster hail storms driving over the Wolds. At around 6.00pm tonight another hail/snowstorm came through the area.
A little of it started to lay
Some very big flakes fell from the back end of the storm. Awesome looking cloud structure as it disappeared over the hills behind my house
Blue skies following the snow clouds but more ominous clouds on their way in the distance
Lets see what the next set of storm clouds bring

Lots of really heavy hail storms noted today whilst travelling to Scarboroughfrom Hull. My car indicated temperature of 7 degreesas I set off. A heavy hailstorm came through with really strong winds and temperature dropped to 1 degree after the storm passed Brief snow flurries followed. Repeat the above process about 4 times on the journey North. Huge towering clouds seperated by brief periods of sunniness. Largest hail was about pea sized near Staxton-on-the-Wolds on the edge of the Vale of York at about 3:50pm. The hail storms came through from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Think I saw a flash of lightning in the first storm near Beverley, but not particularly close to where I was. There were some very dark clouds to the East in the direction I saw the flash.
It's not hailed in over an hour, but it's now snowing reasonably heavily and even settling on the grass. Interesting day so far

A pic from earlier tonight of the snow outside. It's just started snowing again, so there's a bit more than this picture indicates.

Beutiful weather here in Scarborough. Clear skies with a hint of cloud to the West on the horizon. Hopefulyl that will push east and bring some snow later
-
Snowing for the first time today here inScarborugh now. Not heavy, but it should be cols enough for it to stick around if it snows a while

Yes.. I noticed how mild it was. I was made to run out to a local hardware shop for a sink plunger at the height of the rain so I'm a little wet

Chucking it down here in Scarborough, and has been for the last hour. Localised flooding on the roads. The drains where I work can't cope and rainwater is coming through the ceiling. Got a rather wet floor next to my workbench at the moment

Looks like you've picked well this time. Limon, Lincoln County, Colorado is under a Severe Thunderstorm warning and Tornado watch at the moment. Some very nice looking cells just to the south. Hope you've got yourself positioned well as those roads around there don't seem too great ACtually looks like a third cell heading straight towards limon. Might be a better option as it will follow I70 eastwards I believe
