  1. Look at those uppers behind the low, even if they get modified from the Atlantic,if the low came to our shores it would deliver blizzards! Again Fi but would be really cool to see what would happen! http://cdn.nwstatic..../h850t850eu.png
  2. Ok as expected the 3rd low is delivering the goods! Again around the 21st! http://cdn.nwstatic....228/h500slp.png
  3. At 183hrs the second low fails to ridge the high into Greenland but there is another low to the East of America hopefully it can do better! However its Fi so it can all change tomorrow! http://cdn.nwstatic....183/h500slp.png
  4. We have all said trend, last week we said trend, yes it wasn't a snowy cold spell, but it certainly is a cold one, with temps here only reacing 2C.
  5. Ive been saying this for quite some days now but around the 19th,I am expecting a colder spell of weather, as always its Fi and how cold it wil get and how long it will be here, is still up to debate but its certainly been shown on the GFS in the last couple of days. Here is Ensemble for the 06z just before the 12z comes out hopefully we will see if its still showing the colder trend. http://modeles.meteo...28301&runpara=0
  6. Again its around the 18th-20th that we should be looking at IMO. As i said yesterday the low to the east of America is causing the ridge into Greenland shown now on 7 runs(if i remember right). However the angle of the low makes the difference and we dont know yet what it will be like because its FI but certainly a trend. http://cdn.nwstatic....216/h500slp.png
  7. Just to reiterate my point from my last point, 3 runs showing the ridge at around 192hrs and the low to the east of America... First is the 00z, 2nd is the 18z and the 3rd is the 12z they are at different times and a day either side, but its a trend IMO, which i will be looking out for. Edit:Looking at yesterdays runs, they all show similar trends around these timeframes..
  8. Overall a good run, with some slight improvements in the shorter term (again!) in the longer term (+144hrs) looks better, and for me the low to the east of North America at 204hrs (shown in the 12z too) starts everything off in terms of cold, this low ridges the Azores high into Greenland which causes the low in front of the ridge to move SE giving us the easterly, that we are looking for. (As always Fi and subject to change).
  9. And the topic comes alive! FI has shown another trend over the last runs, and thats the small Artic High, one worth noting? Looking at the NH chart most of the PV has moved to Russia/Asia a good starting point for cold..(yes its Fi but trends are looking good)
  10. I dont see any flattening here... http://cdn.nwstatic.co.uk/gfsimages/gfs.20121210/18/177/hgt300.png
  11. Block holding ever so slightly, this has happened in many of the runs so far! This will hopefully delay the low from reaching our shores by a few hours
  12. I see some good in that chart and that is (assuming the dotted line is the average?) the trend towards colder conditions past the 21st.
  13. Jet stream taking a trip to Spain at 141hrs, will this help cause a ridge into Greenland? Edit: C'mon Low move SE!
  14. You seem to have a lot of confidence in what you are saying, but why? The weather for later this week is still changing, so how can you know what Christmas has in store?
  15. I dont really know tbh as its FI and i dont look at the millibars as these change drastically over runs..
  16. The past runs have shown this for around the 20th if you see, there is is low pressure in Southern Europe bringing us easterly winds. Certainly a trend and i will be looking quite closely at this to see how it develops.
  17. Here you go,what he is talking about is very similar to lake effect snowhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake-effect_snow
  18. Further upgrades like the ones we are seeing could make this week,IMO probably the best model viewing ever!
  19. If the cold does come at the dates you have suggested,it looks like precipitation is also likely to fall, and if it does looking at the cold side, it would fall as snow. However it is FI and all subject to change.
