  1. To far North East, looks like ConvectiveWeather got it spot on today
  2. We are too far NE, need something to fire up in that clear slot near Cambridge
  3. These plume setups are notoriously difficult to model and forecast, a fact which was once again proven last night! Good to see plenty of people getting a storm fix last night anyway, especially anyone who chased big distances! Unfortunately for me, my choice of vehicle makes it rather expensive to chase anything thats not local
  4. Rapid convection North of London, rather insane viewing on the radar
  5. There must be a serious amount of energy over the SE, another cell has just exploded into life behind the main one
  6. Has anyone else noticed how poor the Netweather lightning detector performs when storms are elevated, barely showing any activity compared to Blitzortung
  7. I feel your frustration mate, certainly a better chance of seeing these big storms down South, it makes perfect sense though with the proximity to the continent. The problem i think with being in such a central location is that all the action is either way further south, too far east over the hotspot of South Lincs, or in recent years, way to far north! Our time will come eventually and when we do finally see a decent night time storm it will be worth the wait. Well any storm for that matter, night time or not! Anyway, can any of our resident chasers report in? where are you!?
  8. Good luck to everyone this weekend, a storm would be welcome here as the last one good one we had was way back in September 2016!
  9. So as usual, the question is how far north can these storms survive? Still plenty of lightning activity NE of Bristol http://en.blitzortung.org/live_lightning_maps.php?map=12
  10. IMBY, could be sanwiched in a storm free zone, with activity to the NW and SE, my plan i think is to head up to some vantage point in the Peak District later this evening, hopefully something like July 1st 2015 unfolds
  11. Good potential for some storms tomorrow afternoon! Its nice to be back in this thread after what seemed like an eternal winter!
  12. I can remember being in a cottage on holiday in Brixham, Devon, must have been either 2005 or 2006, huge thunderstorm woke us up at around 07:00, crazy lightning and loud thunder! Thats the only one i can remember
  13. We are bang on the convergance zone by the looks of it, probably be at least 6 inches before the morning, equalling the last cold spell
  14. Whiteout here, blizzard conditions 3 inch in places, radar looks amazing, no sign of it stopping!
  15. Blizzard conditions here, plenty of snow out to the east on Radar
  16. Well, the North Sea snow factory is working overtime tonight. A small army of heavy snow showers moving in across the region
  17. Some surface water flooding here, been raining all day with more to come, Yellow warning from UKMO Check out this eye-like feature on the radar!
  18. Make sure you come back in summer for some thunderstorm watching
