  1. Sunnyish day today, but a bit of a nagging wind which kept the temperatures just below double digits. Still, the side lawn got its first mow of the year with my brand new and very shiny hand mower. (£35 from B&Q, discounted from £45 due to a missing grass basket.)
  2. Mucky out there now. 8 degree temperature differential currently between Brize Norton (13 degrees) and Leeds (5 degrees). That's roughly a 1 degree drop for every 16 miles.
  3. Not a bad day today; no rain, sun tried its hardest to peep out from behind the low cloud and it felt about 10 degrees down at Ham Wall. Apparently the Scottish Highlands recorded a 19 degree temperature today, presumably somewhere on the leeward side of the mountains.
  4. Yes retired. I used to pick up most of my regular bouts of lurgy from work, I'm sure. It was an open plan office (o2, Slough) but the meeting rooms were small and sweaty - not unlike my old boss, actually.
  5. I don't know what's going on in the UK anymore when it comes to sickness. I used to get ill quite regularly but I've not had even a sniffle since a week before the first lockdown, which is nearly 4 years ago now. The only difference is I no longer work in an office. But I'm still out and about every day, in supermarkets and coffee shops. I'm not complaining, that's for sure - but it's really weird.
  6. Bright day here so far - nice to see the sun. I don't dare to mention the other 'S' word. (Life was much easier 20+ years ago when the computer models weren't publicly available.)
  7. I think the Met Office expected the low pressure perhaps to be a little further north than it was as it tracked west to east. I'm right on the coast (Portishead) and it hasn't been that windy so far, not even any particularly bad gusts. The low pressure is now to our NE, so I don't see the wind getting stronger now.
