Just an observation not pro AGW or against. When I first joined this forum 3 years ago (ish) and first got into a disscusion on GW I was very against GW I would mention climate cycles and bassically be shot down in flames and told i was being stupid that there was no such thing and that it was all down to us. Now days after reading thread after thread I cant deny that I am swayed by some o the AGW arguments, but am equally swayed by some arguments against, so I find myself sat on the fence trying to see the light. (am in danger of losing my point! so back onto it) Now climate cycles are excepted and people aknowedge that there is such a thing to an extent, 3 years back I was laughed at and told to sit back and accept the science. Science is ever changing always moving forward always pushing, I think people on both sides of the debate somtimes forget this and take the current science as fact when its not. There is a constant process of learning and moving forward on both sides. That is science! Pointless post I know, but I was bored -

Where have I made an allegation without evidence? I have seen many examples of poor science on GW, when pushed as to why often the reason is they felt pressured into it. Maybe I should not take them at their word? But then where do you stop... I know countless others doing research on GW and shoddy research at that! We could be here all night but alas I have Papers to read yet. I will say if there is a conspiracy they are bloody good as it would be an amazing feat! Again GW I do not know, What i am against is the needless hype -

I doubt anyone is suggesting this Devonian? It is a fact that you have a better chance of getting funding because its the 'fad' at the moment. Sorry again  you seem to be under the impression I am against GW?? I am on the fence on that Magpie, as both sides of the argument and the science behind both sides is compelling so being totally honest, not a clue have I! What I am against is the media band wagon........ -

Sorry didnt make myself clear, excuse me for that. I am not saying they are making anything up, I am simply stating a fact that a lot are forced into this area when they dont really have the heart for it - no motivation breeds sloppy science -

Science should be neutral, however in reality this is not the case. If I was a student again looking to get funding/grant on research I know that to be confident of being sucsessful I would have a much much better chance if I mentioned the magical words global warming. This is a sad fact but very true, I know a number of friends that have experienced this. -

A while back if asked if I thought AGW was a reality I would of said no. Now I find myself on the fence so to speak. Having a background in science I always tend to question everything untill I understand things -do I understand AGW- Hell no! Which is why I like looking through threads like these as on occasion you learn the odd thing or two. I must admit I was going to sit back and just read as this thread raged on (lazy hey?) but a comment WIB made comparing AGW and religion did strike a cord with me and prompt me out of my lazy ways. There is truth in his comment, "A few months ago my father-in-law suggested the AGW climate change bandwagon was like a religion" I on more then one occasion have had personal attacks just for questioning AGW. I find myself asking why? when the AGW supporters claim to be followers of the scientists - the nature of science is to question question question and then question some more a theory, to pull it to pieces and then put it back again in the hope that it stands up. The reluctance to do this brings me to why this should be the case? (are they afraid?) Add that to the pushing the subject gets in the media all being one-sided, makes me very suspicious. This fence of mine I like and I will keep questioning on both sides of the argument as that is the true nature of science, and the only way to the truth. All of the above is IMO -
Lovely Photo Shadow! Have changed my mind on my frog nonweather pic and want to put this in its place? Sorry for the \messing about! Heron

Crist for a second I had to check I was on the right forum, a sensible disscusion on this subject! I had given up on even typing one letter on this subject again after getting jumped on and almost bullied while expressing my thoughts on AGW and the media bandwagon. Very refreshing. -
