SNOW SNOW SNOW!
Well, I must say, im over the moon with this snowfall. We here in surrey have had 6-7cm giving a very good covering - its looks beautiful! Like a christmas card.
2 decent falls in 2 weeks not doing bad this winter.
Was not happy that the weatherman on ITV This Morning who just said that's your snow for the south for this winter! (hope not, I want more!!!)
But I must say, I would love to get some more between now and April!! Who knows.... something even better might be just around the corner?!!
They are far to fast to predict that no more snow will fall.

Still snowing nicely here
-
2 to 3cm so far and increasing. Although it is moderate at the moment and depending on how long this will last with new bands of heavy snow we should have quite a nice bit of snow around
Blowing at times giving slight blizzard like conditions!
-
Snowing nicely now giving a nice first covering
-
Fine flakes but coming down very fast. I think come down with bigger stuff as the rush hours starts.
-
Just confirming flakes about 1mm bigger than last time I posted
-
Very fine snow just started to come down!

Rob Mc thingy,
They were discussing this winter, and how the second half is going as expected regarding the cold, he then went on to say we would see a return to milder conditions next week, but
won't see any wintery conditions until the middle of March.
I don't agree with what he said!

Well it's the worst run imaginable for me.
For tomorrow I get the cold air but the precipitation fizzles out.
Then at the weekend the cold air stays too far to the north leaving me with nothing
yet again.
What a suprise.
Have fun everyone else!
You will get snow mate
I will be back on a little later just not feeling to good at the moment.
Charts will be updated much more in the coming days
Looking forward to the 18z *passes cookies and chocolate around*

Robert Well interestingly the last few runs the models have hinted at another band of precipitation heading over the UK like the one forecast for Thursday is... and while it does head across the UK on saturday it looks like we could have temps of 1-2c in some areas and there is a possibility of another chance of snow. But we wont know for sure till about Thursday.
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the feedback
Looking forward to Thursday and the 10th

I'm expecting model upgrades. Temps on Saturday will fall. As for Thursday, heavy snow for S/SE to begin with, then Northwards it goes. Surprised your temps in Exeter was 4.3C @ 23:39 hrs! Air temps in Croydon is currently -1C!
I would like you to confirm when the so called even larger teapot started in the UK. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, my Grandad who was born in 1901 kept records on weather patterns and I can tell you right now that you would then have to class some of the good old days as modern winters too!
Hi Yamkin,
Yes there will be upgrades but it is the waiting that makes so many loose hope. Then again this is weather at it's best when the models are changing so much. *Passes cookies and hot chocolate around*

Well I haven't a clue what is going to happen, I don't think I have ever seen so much
disagreement and confusion.
It's looking like we won't actually know until the day arrives.
I don't know whether to stay up for the 00z now.
could be interesting.
Things will workout. Plenty of time for upgrades before Thursday...and then there is always Saturday

If anyone could draw me a map of what they think may take place Saturday 10th it would be appreciated.
I know that is the day I made my prediction for but it would be interesting to see some kind of map for possible outcomes or maybe leave it a couple more days for further upgrades?

Looking in the long term the 19th 20th looks good for snow for all areas
Be nice to see what tonights chart brings.

Fantastic map with possible outcomes of snow accumulation for many areas.
I am in there some where
It would be nice if you could do a map for Saturday or maybe a bit nearer the time after some more updated model runs ?

OMG!!! No cookies or hot chocolate?!?!?!?
*passes around cookies and hot chocolate*
I had better stay on topic now but at least you won't go hungry or thirsty now
Getting back to the models. There is still a lot of time for many more upgrades
I am positive you will get something out of this Persian

Just seen the 12Z and how exciting this is becoming.
Anyone wondering just how much the GFS has upgraded since yesterday they only need to look at the link below.

Max temps of 1C and yesterday it was progging 9C for saturday!.
Simple reason is that as the shortwave moves E we start to draw a colder feed from the E and shown on the 850hpa charts.

My advice would be to stick with the Sat/Radar/Fax for the snow event on Thurs and concentrate on the model output between +72 & +120 because im sure we haven't seen the end of these changes yet.
Very exciting yes . With more upgrades to come!
Charts can change so fast!
Looking forward to tonights chart.
