Bit more breeze this morning,,Temps 8.1,,,,,,,,,,Cloud moving across giving some sunny periods,
Dry days are firming up ground, Can take dog over fields without the mud splattered clothing,,,
Nature produces the weather, not models or forecasters. We are all in the same boat and have to accept the vagaries of our climate,
I have MS and extremes of weather have major impact on my life,,, But the answer is accept what we get and make the most out of each weather type, There's not much we can do about it, So enjoy each day
The longer the Pest from the West stays away, The more chance we can nicely dry out and the farming rhytham can resume normal service,
Spring lambing time getting close here in Dorset,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Very misty morning, but sun breaking through,
Remember the days when in Birmingham would have the thick pea soup fogs,
Drove work one evening closely following tail lights of car in front, I finished up in Cul de sac outside this guys house,,,,,,,,,,,Road I knew so well just became very disorientating, Down here in Dorset was the sound of Portland Bill fog horn echoing across Weymouth Bay, So eerie, Stood in front of it once when it went off, Very body numbing experience
Talking on mod thread about 1987 winter, Think we had very cold spell in this area, Must be year the engine of my car froze up and eventually finished up with cracked block,
Was helping out at the old Dorchester football club pitch,,, Remember shovelling snow off pitch,so they could play game, but called off anyway due to everything freezing up solid, Frozen water pipes.no toilets, That was cold spell, but not remember how long lasted [Think have right year]
Lovely Day,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Went down Weymouth so Spring like,,,
Watch out for the Hard men of Weymouth, they hang round Kings Statue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Scene from Movie The Damned 1963, Filmed in Weymouth/Portland [Oliver Reed]
Few days of of this weather will soon help dry ground, River level nicely returning to normal level
Frogs not yet spawning here, Roe Deer out and feeding, Hares out and very active,
Spring definitely NOT yet sprung, but having practice run,
The night of Sat Feb 18th even saw snow drifting in Weymouth Town, The Esplanade had deep snow, Dorchester road almost impassable, I skidded down hill and wrecked a lamp post, One mighty blizzard
Early last year we desperatly needed rain after previous dry winter, Would hope after the amount rain we have had, water table could sustain period of dry weather for summer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,River here was really low early spring last year, At moment it's still very high, The constent flood damage altered ecology of banks and will take time to recover, I know farmers having many issues with crop sowing and harvesting,,,,,,,,Been total nightmare for all who Work outside,Just hope settled dry period that's forecast comes off,
But I wonder if there is any correlation between cold spring, settled Summer? I know couple people who run Kiosks down West Bay, They really suffered last year. Warm sunny summer would be great..........But settled with less rain would do
