  1. This from the 30th July 1994. Remember these ones, had a thunderstorm during the afternoon and hen another on during the late evening. It really was the summer for thundery plumes
  2. This is from the 4th of July 1994. Storms had struck the SE overnight and Michael Fish talks about the huge storms over Europe
  3. Here's another thundery plume from the 1st of July 1994, I will be uploading a few of these from that summer
  4. Here's the 6th of June 1993 Countryfile forecast and a prediction of a thundery breakdown Which duly happened
  5. I think they even had to produce new magnetic symbols that low for December 1981 Here's the 29th December 1995 forecast and Peter Cockcroft even says a very small chance of freezing rain. Infact it was mostly freezing rain. It really was a disappointing breakdown.
  6. Here's the 30th May 1993 Countryfile forecast as we head into the summer of 1993, which was overall on the cool side.
  7. The "who's counting" forecast as John Kettley says
  8. Thanks. It won't be until the spring of 2020 that we see Mars, Jupiter and Saturn all within a relatively small area of the sky again. Jupiter and Saturn conjucntions only happen roughly every 20 years but I think the next one is a really close one.
  9. Here's the BBC Countryfile forecast from the 23rd May 1993, unsettled sums it up
  10. Piers Corbyn giving his prediction to ITN on the 22nd December 1995
  11. There was a really stormy spell just after mid March 2004, when the UK was subjected to a series of severe gales. The Saturday of the 20th was a really stormy here, that was the worst of the gales for my area http://news.bbc.co.u.../uk/3524638.stm http://www.wetterzen...00120040321.gif
  12. The recent Venus-Jupiter conjunction made me dig out this old footage taken by my dad of that wonderful conjunction of the crescent Moon, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn taken on the evening of 6th April 2000. It was an amazing sight. Saturn is to the top left of the Moon with Mars and Jupiter close to each other to the right of the Moon. Even more amazing was the unexpected auroral display that night, the best and most widely seen for some years. A double treat for astronomy lovers.
  13. Here's the 15th August 1995 forecast. Unfortunately the video quality is poor but Bill Giles mentions how exceptional that summer was giving temperature and rainfall figures
  14. There was that strange and unexpected thaw during the evening of the 27th January, where the snow disappeared but it was a dry thaw. Despite a fairly decent covering, we lost all our covering very quickly but with little melt. Not sure whether it was sublimation but it did half go quick!
  15. Here's the 26th January 1996 forecast. Heavy snow showers came across the Pennines that night to affect my region and by morning it was steady snow
  16. Here's the 9th May 1993 Countryfile forecast The forecast for the latter part of the week didn't go to plan as it did not foresee the development of the low which brought wintry weather to parts of Scotland in a download I made some days back
  17. I have downloaded Granada Reports on this snow event of the 5th January 2010. This is the 1st part and I will download the 2nd part in the near future. It really was a memorable event.
  18. Here's the Countryfile forecast from the 2nd of May 1993
  19. Note that temperature at Skye in the 2nd broadcast of 23C, that is impressive, I suspect there have been summer months when it hasn't even reached that once.
