    I doubt us Devonians will see anything wintry this weekend Judging by the charts as well such as 'snow risk' It seems to be the noth south and east that get the snow....as always!! I really hope we get some snow this winter, we do not need anymore of the wet stuff! Sun, cold and snow showers will do just fine!

    Please let us get a really heavy snowfall and preferably on a weekend We always luck out on any major snowfall (apart from in 2010/11)

    Can I ask what this shows, i'm guessing the blues and purples mean cold and by that i mean cold enough for snow? What would you expect conditions to be likein the southwest of the uk with this graph you've posted? Is that a hugh winter storm to the southwest of the uk? Would it bring snow and blizzards widespread to the uk?

    Sorry I'm new to this...what do all the charts mean...worst case scenario, best scenario and then most likely? Some models are picking up some windstorms too...does this make sense?

    Ah thankyou guys! So it's looking hopeful even for us in waterlogged Devon! I'll be keeping an eye on the weather updates in the next couple weeks...I hope I start to understand all the technical talk soon, I guess I need to research more!     I hope so as I'm not the biggest fan of the dull quiet weather we have going on right now! Come on snow or throw us some good severe gales in the south!!

    I hope we get snow, i'm tired of the mild and rainy conditions down here with the odd cold spell, we always miss out on the snow usually, I hope not this time!

    Does anyone know if the southwest will be getting snow this winter? Will there be severe cold in the next 2 - 3 weeks or so as we always seem to luck out even when it's cold the rain comes in from the west which brings the mid air in to us in the winter then tends to turn to snow in east devon or Somerset onwards.... I'm still learning the technical aspect of the weather but I'm really interested in 'interesting' weather! Thankyou

    @gimmiemoresnow...speak for yourself...I love storms just not when they hurt anyone @lomondsnowstorm...ok now you're making me jealous...you have the most diverse weather up there, I love it! @weatgerhistory...yes I have noticed...when I was in little I used to always hear the wind howling...maybe it's because we didn't have double glazing....not sure?! I can't remember the 1987 storm but I think the 1991 or 92 (can't remember which year it was) i can remember that well, tiles and branches flying everywhere! We had to stay in classroom and weren't aloud out

    I'm holding out for some interesting weather mid month onwards, a few long range forecasts seem to be predicting some good gales then preceded by freezing weather and snow events for the end of jan and feb! I hope so!!!
