    Flatters to deceive

Was walking home in the cold winds and mixed sky… and on my way I could make out big black clouds on the horizon. As I got home at around 6pm I looked out of my window due North West and I noticed these amazing black beauties were heading my way. You could distinguish the precipitation falling from them in the distance as big black lines and everything! I waited intensely as these clouds smothered the suddenly wintry sky above me, the air was sharp and cold… with potential of snow. The grey steel sky remained above… but nothing was falling I waited and I waited, made myself dinner. Looked out of the window again, still very dark. I went into the conservatory. At least by now there was a bit of precipitation. Pittar patter against the roof… and that was about as good as it got, before those dark threatening clouds moved south… leaving me wondering why such heavy steel coloured clouds could only produce a minutes worth of sleety drizzle!
  2. Weather: Partly cloudy with a few "clearer" patches in the sky. Feeling mild. Temperature: 10.8c Wind: W 8mph Pressure: 1027 hPa relative humidity: 76%
  3. It looks like the low night minima is what is keeping the March CET relatively sane so far! It's a reverse to when you get a mostly cool overcast summer month that ends up being average or even above. It has nothing to with the maximum temperature, the cloud that keeps the temperature higher at night is what gives off the susprising figures. August 2006 and summer 2004 as examples.
  4. Weather: Warm, sunny and on the breezy side. Temperature: 13.8c Wind: SSW 11mph Pressure: 1031hPa Falling Relative humidity 86% Sunset: 17:55
  5. I have voted for an above average March because, like any other month it is above average! However I have decided against voting "much" above average because officially March isn't a winter month... and the winter months are usually the "much" above average! I have also decided not to take a guess at the CET for March as I am still learning about the CET for the spring, summer and autumn months. You really do never stop learning! Incidentally has anyone got the official CET for Dec 05 Jan 06 and Feb 06 ??
  6. Weather: Grey, mild, drizzly... pretty non descript. Temperature: 9.3c Wind: SE 13mph Visibility 22km Pressure: 1011 hPa falling Relative humidity: 95% Sunset: 17:43
  7. I thought I was aiming "high" with 5.5c but even then the sky high figures never cease to amaze me! I actually guessed that it would start of high but get slightly reduced towards the end of the month, instead it was the other way round!!
  8. Weather: Mostly clear and a bit cooler than late, but still not "cold" ! Temperature: 7c (45f) Wind: WNW 8mph Pressure: 1017 hPa rising
  9. Oh dear, looks like the CET is going in only one direction! and thats towards the sky! Oh well my prediction of 5.5c may have held some truths, although it will probably get higher, but I think it should just about be lower than January's CET.

    Snowdrop 3/2/07

From the album: WBSH weather photos

Taken on the 3rd of Feb 2007, a close up shows the Snowdrop/galanthus flower in full glory!
  15. I little review of what happened in WBSHland today! 04:00, no snow, (according to mother!) 06:30 I wake up and all of a sudden it’s there! About a few centre metres and still snowing. -07:15 I leave the house, snow turning light and a bit sleety, with already first signs of thawing. Around 08:00 I’m on the bus and snow gets heavy again. At 09:00 it’s chucking it down fast with huge flakes! At 10:00 it’s turned to sleet and rain before at 10:30 turning to big snow flakes again! At 10:35 it’s more or less stopped and by 12:00 the sun has started to come out! By 15:00 most of the snow has thawed and by 17:00 I am walking home and it’s raining on and off again and you wouldn’t have known it had snowed at all! Bar a few patches of sluDoh a dumb swear filter got the better of me
  16. Weather: Blue skies and sunshine Temperature: 7.1c Wind: WNW 7mph Pressure: 1033hPa rising Humidity: 98% Sunset: 16:38
  17. Maybe a little early, but my CET predicton for January looks to be quite close and I took a wild guess at that so I will do the same for this. Sadly I expect another above average one, but lower than December and January, so my guess is 5.5c , I feel that my guess will be valid untill the last week of Feb, when I predict that maybe my "inflated" guess will fall flat on it's face!
  18. For me it was rubbiDoh a dumb swear filter got the better of me The last two mornings I have woken up to some really pathetic dustings of snow, actually they were barely dustings, more like chunks of frozen ice! However, as soon as I left Maidstone the "snow force field" that usually hangs around me wore off. Today in the morning for instance I was at Bedgebury forest and a few centre metres of snow had fallen, which although wasn’t a great deal, it looked great amongs the scenery. I took some pics, i'm glad I went there at the right time!
  19. Weather: Cold and mostly clear with a few scattered clouds. Temperature 1.7c Wind: NNW 7mph Wind Chill: -3c Pressure: 1028 hPa rising Humidity: 86% Dew-point: -3c
  20. Weather: Mostly clear with scattered clouds, feeling raw in the wind. Temperature: +2.4c Wind: N 13mph Wind-chill: -2c Pressure: 1017 hPa falling Dew point: -1c

  22. Weather: Clear, breezy and feeling on the tad cooler side than of late. Temperature: 8c (46f) Wind: SW 17mph Gust: 32mph Wind chill 3c (37f) Dew point 3c (37f) Pressure: 1011 hPa falling
  23. If the winds carry on like this, then my whole street is going to have the same garden! Quite why my neighbours wanted to put the fence up again last week I do not know! it was only going to be blown away!
  24. Weather: Overcast, windy and very mild, infact it is ridiculously mild. Temperature: 13.6c Wind: WSW 21mph Wind Gust: 33mph Pressure/trend: 999 rising
  25. From the album: WBSH weather photos

I went into my garden just now and my snowdrop flowers are coming through, not quite flowers as such but I can see white heads threatening to open, last year they were doing this at least a month later!
