  1. hmpf and as I went to watch it, the lamp post switched it off. If that is what a yellow snow shower can do on the radar heading straight for us, well I am not impressed.
  2. spooky. It was bone dry 5 mins ago when I got in,nothing, even after the hail shower at 6.30. So had a little look on here and as if by magic, I saw some happy posts, then looked out of the window and it's snowing and getting all white. yea it works...
  3. hello Deep Snow - it was the 30th Nov, 2010. I remember it well as I was out over the town. The girls laughed as me as I turned up in my thick heavy hiking boots, (as being the little weather geek knew what was coming) whilst they were in the sparkle heels. By 10pm all the taxi were off the road and we had to walk home.....they stopped laughing then at my boots. .
  4. Morning all, completely white here, although melting now. However the BBC charts had us down for rain now - which is not the case and rain later. Yet the netweather forecast says it will be snow. Very marginal indeed.
  5. well just goes to show .... complete white out on the pavements and road, thick flakes still falling all from a huge radar gap 30 mins ago.....and a cat outside that obviously thinks he is some sort of snow leopard. Night all.
  6. grrr shows you how much I know - those hills over Hexham have gobbled up my snow. grrrr.
  7. Well I think we (south tyne side) are in the firing line. But can still see the lights right out west. When they go dark - something is coming. will keep you posted
  8. Yes I was looking at that too, will it get stuck on the hills? but it seems that at least some should get down??? can it?
  9. Very light dusting here, but we had more last week when the whole road was covered, yet 2 mins down the hill nothing. I am a newbie on here, but it seems the showers are being blocked by the hills and sent south. But have heart, it seems on the model thread, they reckon this is in for a few days yet. (not that I understand it all, but trying to learn).
  10. I would guess if anything were to get going it would be after dark. The temp in the sun is too warm, mind the wind chill is pretty cold. I think the back edge of the front got us all a tad over excited this morning. From the hill up here, I can still see plenty of grey clouds inbound and if it is just a light cover after all.....we still have Sunday
  11. hello all, Snow starting to lie here up on the hill in Gateshead, but I often go through the snow line as I go into the valley. The sleet started at 10am. Now its proper snow.
  12. Hello all I have been lurking on here reading the strat thread last winter and all this. This year I have added these threads to cross refer to the models to further enhance my complete novice understanding and I am now totally hooked and very excited too. So for my first post, I don't have anything intelligent to add to the model discussion, except it will snow and it will be cold.... very cold. How do I know this?.... M&S have already started putting summer sandals on the shelves.
