Was even more in Croydon. Knee high on the ground, drifts a little higher, the trams were shut for three days, as were most of the shops.
We had 13 inches on the garden table in east Croydon
read that back .. oooer missus

However much it snows, peeps using Southern Trains won't notice any difference?
Oh we are victims of the South West Trains service. I imagine the race to be the crappiest Trains service is pretty hot at this time of year

I should imagine so. Last year he got sent to check the emergency supplies at one of the depots and it consisted of a high vis vest in size small, a flare and a box of space blankets (with most of them missing)
excellent. nothing to do with getting trains around reliably then

Had a word with my friend at Network Rail earlier, in a word 'panic' is what is occurring with the train planning for the week.
Though my friend personally seems to feel it is being over-egged a little it is encouraging for us snow chasers to hear that those with access to some high level forecasting are starting their contingency plans.
And the book of emergency excuses is being well read right now I imagine

Do It , I Dare you , your reward is dump hole will get a foot of snow .
obviously I can’t promise you that
you might just get it deleted Like most of my lighthearted ones were, after all not many posters in there are in the least bit convincing. The toy throwing was for infants or keyboard warriors. The poor old childminders (mods) had a hard job but you cant take a free internet site totally seriously. Not many would speak to eachother face to face like that

Never mind the hunt for cold....an awful lot are hunting for breakdown BEFORE the cold fun and games. Let’s stick to up to day 6 max
BFTP
Does anyone know if there are any rolling verification stats for quality of model output covering say 3 or 5 days?

lets see what happens tomorrow to the least reliable forecasts many of us have ever seen

TBH. snow is lovely falling and when it first lays, but then it starts to melt, then freeze over and is horrible to walk in. Now have to walk further to school so maybe it's best it doesn't snow. It was bad enough with the ice this morning.
yep, don't want snow.
The ice was nasty yesterday on a pedestrian bridge over the railway line near where I live... A few folk could have come unstuck there. And blamed someone else, obviously

nothing makes me want to polish the family silver than seeing sleet/snow preceded by rain on a forecast.
Yes indeed, plenty of chances for a good polish coming up for you I feel, given those stellar charts being discussed recently. Does look rather like we are in for a good time - the cold hunt is definitely on !

Sitting under rain on the radar but we’re not getting even that.
Its queer isn't it? I have got rain coming down but the radar says I haven't. Perhaps we don't know where we are

No worries. I'm not sure why it's so mild in the Atlantic, my knowledge isn't as high as most here. I'm just here for the ride of cold weather! blame theresa may if all else fails!
Just wondering what the Atlantic temperature is now, but I'm fairly sure from my diving days it was coldest in March. And imagine Teresa on here, gawd she'd be rushing around ignoring all the experts, then she'd be coming up with some wild proposal and stick to it.

Oh boy, this forum is certainly keeping my heart pumping...
I get you, wow its exciting. I headed over for a sneek at the previously riotous, but now 'ever so serious' thread just now where there was in-depth analysis of clusters, hypotheses and all manner of three latter acroynoms (TLAs) flying at maybe one per hour. Some of those posters are hell bent on getting it right, and all credit to them, but just now and again one pipes up with the lesson to end them all: The weather will do what it wants. Amazeballs. Stay here, its benign but its safe.

there could be a dozen suicides if it does come off ! Will leave the snow tyres alone and walk away

Don't worry, the two snow shovels I ordered have arrived today so I won't need them for a few winters yet
Seriously though it does look good over on the mod thread. I wonder when we'll see the first "will it snow in X" posts?

Have spotted my car winter tyres down the end of the garden. Will putting them on activate the SE snowshield?
maybe i shouldn't have mentioned it

Too much impatience over there .... don’t think many have noticed that the month thus far is chilly (days moreso than nights )
Sure is a lot of impatience and tossing toys about when a set of simulation results don't show what some people want the weather to be. A lack of emotional maturity on several levels, compounded by a lack of fluid dynamics understanding- not great for interpretation of simulations. I had better spend my time doing something useful !

Over in the model 'discussion' thread the rollercoaster has begun again, up down, round and round, getting chilly, oh no its not, oh yes it is.... . Quite funny for the first 10 minutes of reading, then just blimmin dumbassed bickering.
Chilly outside, no snow
