Few snaps of fun in the (not so much ) snow in scunny. Kids and me getting a little excited, hoping for enough snow for schools to remain closed tomorrow. -

Is this snow not meant to travel all the way up to Scotland. It's still early and not expected to get to north lincs till 6pm earliest. Last snow even METO were extremely accurate to when it was going to reach these parts almost o the minute. -

Anyway more importantly. To sledge or not to sledge That is the question. Hoping the pistes of scunny are still In action Also just checked METO and heavy snow expected in scunny for 6pm 3 hours earlier than they were predicting and lasting till 6am -

I was hoping for conditions to stay similar to yesterday so that tonight's snow would be another good top up to what we have already had. Not been outside but from just looking out the window it looks as if there has been a significant thaw even though dew point is still below 0 BUT temperatures are nearer to 2 degrees. Still scunny looks like (everything crossed) that it could get a good dusting later today , tonight and in to the early hours. Also is it looking like we are in our final week of cooler/cold conditions as the mild air pushes back in by the weekend? -

Talk on the page regarding model readings that what we currently are experiencing is not to do with SSW but its just our average January weather. They are indicating that the effect of the SSW is yet to happen and may start after a brief mild spell this time next week lasting on a couple of days! Thoughts from anyone that is a little more knowledgeable on this than me ( most folk) -

Relative humidity gives the ratio of how much moisture the air is holding to how much moisture it could hold at a given temperature. This can be expressed in terms of vapor pressure and saturation vapor pressure: RH = 100% x (E/Es) where, according to an approximation of the Clausius-Clapeyron equation: E = E0 x exp[(L/Rv) x {(1/T0) - (1/Td)}] and Es = E0 x exp[(L/Rv) x {(1/T0) - (1/T)}] where E0 = 0.611 kPa, (L/Rv) = 5423 K (in Kelvin, over a flat surface of water), T0 = 273 K (Kelvin) and T is temperature (in Kelvin), and Td is dew point temperature (also in Kelvin) So, if you know the temperature, you can solve for Es, and substitute the equation for E into the expression for relative humidity and solve for Td (dewpoint) Hope this is correct. Just off the top of my head. Honest (cut n paste) -

I'm not that old lol I'm just a bit confused at the amounts that we may get in sunny scunny north lincs especially now that Tuesday charts has gone up. The number on the map represents mm of rain correct? So is that 1mm = 1cm give or take or have I just made that up lol And also is that total on Tuesday separate to Mondays total or an accumulation of both. Been a long day, on a double n been up since 4am. -

Would you say scunny is far enough east to get snow on Sunday and not rain? Or would it be more down to lack of height above sea level Certainly has and is warning up in scunny 0.5 degrees Dew point -0.9 -
