Beast of Plympton

Been driving through north Cornwall this morning and there is a lovely covering of snow here.

Well have just come back from cornwall and on the way down there was some very heavy snow. Nice to see.

I know! Nice to see as well. Of course, its just rain now!

Snow in Plympton!

Must have been nice up there. I have to say, a couple of years ago when I live there and we had a lot of snow, it was heaven when they closed the roads for a day, because we could enjoy the snow! But the people who travel up from town have no consideration for people like you guys who actually live on the moors. Just park where they stop. That's why, no matter how tempting it is to come up and see the snow, I won't do it because I know how annoying it is! Anyway, had a lovely walk in plym bridge woods today. No snow but nice and cold!

Just got to Liskeard and it looks like they had a nice bit of snow overnight here.

Nothing here but a frost! The dartcam looks good. Your right about idiots parking all over the road. Its like the drive past the coop at yelverton and suddenly half their brain capacity disappears! It used to wind me up when I was living up there!

Very light snow in Plympton!

Just seen pictures from a friend in Princetown. Very white and still snowing up there. However, there has been an accident on Plymouth Hill going into the village so avoid if you were thinking of taking a trip up there!

No worries! Just spoke to a friend up there and was told they have a dusting but nothing special. Tomorrow is your best bet!

Hi mate, Dartcam is situated around two bridges. I think your best bet is to leave it until the morning and find a spot outside of Princetown. It looks like snow all day on the moors so you are likely to have more fun tomorrow! If you are going today then Princetown is the only place that will have a decent amount mate. Good luck!

Looking at met office its heavy rain all day here. Tempting to take a trip up the hill but its saying heavy snow all day in Princetown. Trouble is, with heavy snow on a hill is, you get stuck there! Think I will stay here and hope for a bit of snow later!

That's ok. It can get very manic! You will presumably be coming through Tavistock way. There will be places before you get to Princetown on the moors and also, if you carry on through Rundlestone rather than turn right to go past the Prison and into Princetown, keep heading for signs towards Exeter, you will find some good spots up there. That takes you past Princetown and that way you are the other side of Princetown from Plymouth and it shouldn't be anywhere near as busy that way. Have fun mate!

That's ok. There are 2 places. The Plume of Feathers and the Prince of Wales. Probably a good idea to book in advance, they can get busy. There is a couple of bunk houses as well. But take it from someone who used to live there. I only live 15 minutes away form it now and even I wouldn't dare venture up there when snow is coming. Its horrendous on the roads. And totally agree with BM4PM, absolutely everyone from Plymouth will be heading up there! Snow is the holy grail, but its not worth the hassle of that! If you go though, be careful and most of all, have fun mate!

I used to be live in Princetown and yes, on an event like this we would get a lot of snow and it is definitely the place to be. However, be warned that if you intend to travel up there you will be joining most people within a 20 mile radius so it blocks up all the roads, which leaves the locals disgruntled! Secondly, everywhere from Princetown is down a hill so whilst you may get up there, you might have a job getting back out again!

Snow forecast on Saturday night! Get in! Wish I still lived in Princetown this weekend!

Its snowing in Exeter!

Temperature dropping fast. 3.2c now.

Got heavy sleet here now.

Just up the road from me! A friend up on the moors has just told me that heavy snow has hit the moors and the roads are closed.

Just had the most incredible hail shower here. The temperature dropped 0.7c in a few minutes and its completely white outside now!

Fair play to you! Its a really nice area to live if you choose to live there. Dousland is very nice. The missus is a Plymouth girl so it was just to far out of the way for her! Just had Thunder, Lightening and a heavy hail shower. That will do!

Dartmouth is fantastic, you will have a great time! I moved because firstly the wife hated it up there with a passion. Too remote and "villagey" etc, and also I had the opportunity to move down to Plympton Fire Station with the Fire Service which is much busier. So I took it! I miss giving the snow reports! We do get some here occasionally being on the edge of the moors but being 350m lower than I was, its a much lower chance!
