  1. All gone quiet now I would not even class that as a storm as the closest it got was around 5 miles away. I guess i was just at the wrong end of town!!
  2. Lightning has almost stop now from what i can see, rain got heavier but that is fading again now. Someone got a good storm and indeed still is, the chap from near Rushden sounded like he was getting the brunt of it From what i could see on met office radar it kind of merged with other littler ones and got a surge of life!
  3. It shows up well on met office radar, some places must be getting a right pasting, sadly its only the very edge over here, hardly even any rain but good lightning can be seen from distance, thunder is distant
  4. I can still hear it but still a few miles away from here. Some good lightning but very little rain. I think i am the wrong side of town!! Its the first storm for my location this year but i wouldn`t class it as a storm as not close enough to me!
  5. I can hear a storm in the distance but very little here at the moment There is some lightning here and distant rumbles, actual storm is around 5 miles off, i live in the town centre Can see the dark clouds building now! Going to get some video!
  6. Not heavy enough here, it`s not making any difference at all
  7. Thanks for some very informative posts Steve Murr It certainly help me put things into perspective in my own head. Thankyou!
  8. I have read the last several posts with considerable interest. Things will stay interesting for sometime to come it seems. Thanks for some very informative posts!
  9. That mass off snow is in the process of leaving Amsterdam now, but it looks to me like its going to be too far North to affect many parts of the Midlands, hope to be proved wrong though, i am far from an expert but it looks likely to hit some parts i would guess nearer midnight tonight. What falls from it will HOPEFULLY be snow be that remains to be seen. Good Luck!
  10. I definately feel that the meto was far better at forcasting years ago, i feel that the old fashion methods are sometimes the best option and never remember them getting forcasts so wrong years ago. It does amaze me though that with access to vast amounts of data and the huge funding they get, why does it get it so very wrong at times these day? Moan over.
  11. Well a few people on here today have advised against watching the radar due to it snowing in some places and nothing at all showing on the radar for their location. I dont know, maybe we are just getting some snow around 24 hours after the forcast event, if we get snow tonight then that will be right because it was forcast for over night last night. Who knows! Still a very light snow shower here but with reasonable size flakes Just remembered, we still have the weather watch from meto so maybe tonight is the night somat might finally happen here....
  12. Sorry i am not feeling too positive at moment
  13. That precip i think is best forgotten, it like waiting for the last supper!
  14. Snowing here now, light to moderate but the most i have seen today
  15. Well according to 2 radars that i have looked at, the wind is a straight E now, the very odd snowflake falling here for the past few hours, quite a bit of thawing today too, but temp has dropped back off now, still waiting for this snow event to happen, metO has no time schedule for this one today it seems. yes i have just noticed the precip building up, have been working so unable to post
  16. I think the MetO have said Bugger it and gone down the pub!
  17. Well i have never felt quite so teased by the good ole British weather before! Still, not quite given up hope of more snow just yet but refuse to get remotely excited as its just not worth it! I just wished it would make up its BL**DY MIND UP!!!
  18. What i find MOST annoying was the way Jim Bacon discussed it, he really didn`t seem ONE BIT bothered that they had got it soooo wrong! - on his Live Radio Northampton speech!
  19. The summary of that was: We are on a knife edge, temp in Northampton town centre is +2 but whatever does melt will freeze tonight and make roads very icy again for tomorrow. He said that he didn`t know what was going to fall, but said it will be rain, sleet or snow! That was a total waste of time, they don`t have a clue at present time what the hell is going to happen. Best way to know whats happening......Look out your window!
  20. Just heard on radio SPECIAL LIVE WEATHER REPORT ON BBC RADIO NORTHAMPTON AT 12:15 if any locals are interested
  21. Even after the MetO downgraded the wearnings warnings, the above still remains in force Risk of disruption Warning Valid East Midlands: Leicester Leicestershire Lincolnshire Northamptonshire Rutland Heavy Snow Sun 10 Jan There is a moderate risk of severe weather affecting parts of England and Wales. Further outbreaks of snow, some heavy and prolonged, with accumulations of 2 to 5 cm generally and locally around 5-10cm over high ground. Strong winds will cause drifting of snow. There will also be further icy stretches on roads and pavements. Issued at: 1158 Sat 9 Jan
  22. No offence taken, this is Britain and these rare setups are unpredictable even to teh experienced forcaster who do their best to suss out what`s most likely to happen. I agree with you regarding "tomorrow" but we all just have to be patient and wait and see. British weather can be very unpredictable at times and at the end of the day the WEATHER will do what the WEATHER wants regardless! I too have been dissapointed a few times, but thats life!
