-1.3 here still so still a chance of an ice day. It's bright sun and it's melted everything it's in view of but still frosty in shaded areas
-
Nothing happened in Rotherham sadly it's just icy and frosty this morning.
First frost of the spell, mon and tues were completely dry on car and ground.
-2 here at the moment, let's see if we can get an ice day....
-
Up to 2.5c here now, rising quicklyΒ
Radar type predicting sleet in some areas now.Β
Don't think Rotherham will be seeing anything today. Slight chance later tonight and then last chance will be any snow showers on Thursday!
Hopefully areas further north can see something this afternoon
-
Forecast is still for rain at lower levels today and tonight reading it which would be infuriating haha! Bloody warm sector in the mini low. Fingers crossed some of us see some snow

Manchester getting hammered with full on snow this morning looking at the radar. Can see it being killed by the Pennines though. Shame!
-
I hope somewhere in the region does well. I'll look forward to snow pics anyway

No ice day today and not in any of the warnings this week. Very disappointing after all the excitement but we shall see.
Maybe see a little falling snow if we catch a shower here over the coming week but I was hoping we'd all see a decent covering for a few days. Seems unlikely at the moment though
-
Yeah I'd agree with you Mark. Sounds like a fair assessment to me.
Hopefully we will see something this week and it would be nice to extend it into next weekend.
I'll be looking to see if we can get an ice day one day next week, you'd think so with the setup and time of year. That's a sign of a good cold spell in the UK for me

Never ever pay any attention to mobile apps. Totally useless. That will probably be derived from the GFS run which was very progressive.
Ignore it

Does anyone else find the mad thread annoying at times. So confusing when it turns into the southern thread every single year. Not sure how they are allowed to get away with it so blatant.Β
Yes it turns into a farce in there sometimes.
To many stupid one liners and in some cases one word replies as well. Don't know why they don't get action taken against them. I just leave it sometimes and go back later to scroll through quickly and read the posters comments that are worth something!

Yeah I agree with the above too. There's nothing interesting showing for this weekend and next week. Chilly but it's just looking raw, misty, low clouds and damp. Horrible really. Too much cloud around to prevent a decent frost too looking at it.
I've scraped my car windscreen once since November!!
Rubbish winter so far but we'll have to see if we get rewarded with anything past mid month. Too far out yet still but fingers crossed

Well if it carries on raining you'll end up being right just ahead of your time.:)
Rivers round here are doing fine some at the high end of normal levels which surprises me a bit.
Haha yeah could be!
I was wondering about the rivers so that's good to hear they are ok.
I guess the good news is that after today there's only showers mostly and then hopefully drying up at the weekend and next week. Hope this is the last rainy day for a while

Well to correct myself a bit it's 18mm for today so far, since midnight and 34mm in total now over past 24h
-
Yes it's vile isn't it, I'm on 30mm already today and loads more yet to fall looking at the radar. It's dark and grim so matches my mood back at work today
-
Happy new year to my weather friends

Not noticed the wind so much here yet but might do later.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Let's hope we all get a present of January snow soon
-
-
It sounds very gusty here but max so far is showing 35mph here. So not too bad but I'm sure it's annoying for anyone out in it today trying to get on!
-
Should have been a warning for now too, it's nearly as bad as yesterday here past few hours

Any time of day I think as they are visible here over lunchtime.Β Β
Nice, thanks! I'll keep an eye out
Still pretty much overcast here though, only a few gaps. I guess the low sun this time of year helps as I saw on the news that it's usually when the sun shines up on them that it illuminates them from below.
Looks spectacular though from the pics!

Are these visible anytime of day or just sunrise and sunset?
Never seen them but although cloudy right now maybe another chance later as it clears up shortly
-
It's pretty bad outside here, really needed to be named by the UK met I feel. Windiest of all the recent storms here.Β
And of course it's black bin day so there's debris all over the road now from everyone's cans and bottles from fallen bins

Well the temps didn't get above freezing here today so at least that's something of note from this week, but I can't really say an ice day for the 24h period as temps were well above freezing in the early hours of this morning. Frustrating!
Same for many of us I suspect...
