    Ok its now official, winter has arrived! Plymouth has a 6% chance of snow tomorrow. Brrr its gona be brutal.

    It wouldn`t suprise me if the 18z supports this, then shortly after ushers in spring! These blooming models are sending me bonkers.

    You`ve missed my point, i didnt say that if it gets cold in the uk it screws up thier long term statement, my point was if the media pick up on them forcasting brutal cold i think they they may start pointing fingers. If we see a real cold spell develop and they metion very cold in their outlook, ill hold my hands up, but i very much doubt it!

    met office have made some very bullish claims about next year being the warmest on record which reflects in their outlook. The media would be all over them if they forcasted what some of the models have been showing.

    Take the mrs shoping tell her the bridge is shut due to metal fatigue and the ferry was sunk by the storms. Only one other way into plymouth

    Trust me i know what to expect! I moved down from the midlands thirty years ago and have only seen liying snow a handfull of times. My point was that imo the mark of a proper cold spell is if we can get snow in around the lizzard . Only then can we say its been special Or maybe im just being shellfish.

    Sorry to put a imby type post up, but for myself its not looking that great. Current temp forcast for next week in my area is around 5 degrees. The uppers are there but im guessing the sst must be still quite warm which inturn must be modifying the air. I really dont understand as i dont think these charts could get any better.

    All the cold ramping going on，people saying its gona special bla bla bla. 5oc where i live for next week... 5 degrees!.... Hardly special is it! ( in no way was this a IMBY post in anyway )

    Hi, Thanks for sharing your thoughts and given a complete novice like myself a insight into how the pros make a forcast. It is very much appriciated as im sure it is by everyone else. Just a quick question, whats you thoughts on sunspot activity and was this factored into your forcast? Somebody mentioned on here that it`s very low at the moment.So i thought i`d ask. Ps currently working the nightshift so have one for me will ya cheers

    In other words we hope it will turn mild again or people will throw eggs at us for saying “2016 could end up the warmest on record” lol

    I`ve been following the models\weatherchat since 2011 and have never seen it go of the chart like that. If you dont mind asking, what sort of levels did the nao tank too in 2010?Last time i looked it was only just negitive.

    Not that cold down where i am, according to the net weather forcast it`ll be 5 degrees on 15th. Warm waters must be modifying the air.

    nothing here in eggbuckland rain has just turned to snow though.can't beleave all that's just ten mins up the road. Huge flakes now!

    no worries JB, like i said high willhays is the highest point on dartmoor but i'm not sure how you'd get up there. A friend of mine likes mary tavi for sledging because there isn't loads of rocks around there.

    no not having a laugh. me and the mrs got caught out one time now she refuses to go out there lol.The weather out there can get nasty and very unpredictable. DONT LET ME PUT YOU OFF THOUGH! ITS ALL AN ADVENTURE SO ENJOY. High willhays is the highest point on dartmoor just south of Okehampton. You may be better of going there.

    Don't go near any roads between plym and Princetown if i was you.there will be half of Plymouth trying to get out there aswel. Also be prepared for possible blizzard conditions.TRUST ME IT BLOODY STINGS! EDIT: looks like the beast beat me to it.

    Net weather have a whole 80% chance of a whole 5mm of snow in plym on sunday.thats half a cm! bloody lucky it's on a Sunday or we'd be screwed. I can see this being broardcasted across the globe "Plymouth braces for worse snowfall ever"

    Remember the Amber warning for nowhere else but south Devon in feb 2013 ? The one when it didn't even rain.sure the met did that just for a laugh .

    Snow and ice warning for the south west! valid from 15:00 today. None for me though
