Our main TV died on 15 December. Darren was so upset as he had bought it 9 years ago. It was his baby. 8P
The TV we were given to get through till 31 January (pay day) also died today. It was so old it remembers ATV/Westward and Southern TV.
So we went to Cash Converters and have a Sony 28" widescreen now for £71.00.
I am starting a new TV fund. The 82" screen from the pub will do for a good film only. The bulbs are £150 each. In a pub fine, in our home No!!!!
Will it snow. In Plymouth. No chance
    But fingers crossed

    Tomorrow is my birthday.
    I will be 34.
I asked Darren "How did I get to be 34?"
He replied "You should have been drowned at birth!"
With some of the things I did in 20's maybe he's got a point.
At least I'm off work tomorrow. Good ole Flexi

Well my last true day of work before the do. Usual stuff, clearing stuff up- writing letter to customers that I should have done months ago (Sorry Relate group in Plymouth)- sorting out Boats and Moorings stuff - (hey if you park a car you must park at boat as well- hence my new additional job title to Senior Parking Officer - Assistant Harbourmaster! ) and then....
at 445 just I was getting ready to go, the whole unit came into my section with an enormous bag of presents. I couldn't believe it- after all I've only been there 9 months and hey I don't need any more knifes (enough in my back).
When I blubbed thanks to everybody- my boss looked at me and said "Phil you're a really nice guy and we all love you".

So looking forward to Saturday, they all said they're coming to the party after the wedding.
    Thanks guys!

Last night during a fab party at our pub, both Darren and myself made a big decision. We decided to close the pub down. It was a wedding present from our partnership in the summer.
We have broken even- but the rent and cost of stock have hit hard. The smoking ban has hit harder. Since 1st July the 3 pubs in the area around us have closed, as they didn't have the courtyard like us. But with 2 weeks to Christmas, even the amount of customers have dropped below the "normal" level. Hence at 11pm talking to my oldest mate Rachel of 14 years I looked at her and said "don't lie to me, it isn't working is it?". She responded with a kiss and hug and said "No". Yes we could have borrowed to survive, but it that worth it? Debt and stress when it's quiet in January and February?
So with pride hurt we walk away. As I played on the juke box last night the Walker Brothers song- No Regrets.
    Theres no regrets
    No tears goodbye
    I don't want you back
    We'd only cry.
But as a door closes a new one will open- of that I'm certain.

    Time to update
In my last blog I was gutted, upset. And yes I left him. The end result of that was horrendous, awful, but in a weird way, my work life actually improved!!
Last weekend was a total watershed. I will never go into the details online- but I had the worst night of my life last Friday night. I am so proud of Darren for his reactions and actions since- but the end result is finally and after a long week of talking until 3/4am each morning- I have moved back home and put my wedding ring back on. Work and family and friends are so happy that things have been sorted, but it took a nasty incident to wake the two of us up to the truth and FINALLY be honest.
It's still a long road- but at least things are moving forward positively for the 1st time in years. Thank you fellow bloggers for your messages of support from the last message. It's one step at a time but with love, support and honesty we can get there.
    Thank you all again!!!

Well followers of my blog will know the stress of my worklife. So finally.......

Having been stressed out, team stuff (most of which I hate), I was referred to Occ Health at work. And hopefully this means I will become a CEO (in old terms a Traffic Warden again).

I can't wait. Seriously. No more team giving me grief- just life on street.

Life can be odd, but I'm going back to life 4 yrs ago. And I cannot wait.

I spent 2 hours in A&E this morning. I woke up and had real problems breathing, plus I had a pain in left arm.
As a result, the other ex decided that he'd had enough and took me to Derriford Hospital. I felt a bit of a fraud- but I had an ECG (all fine) but the chest infection has got worse overnight. The docs have now doubled my antibiotics and given me some strong painkillers, and thankfully they seem to be working, but it's early doors.
Work have been good- told me to come back when I'm ready, so it's another 2 days off at least.
But I have to say- A&E were excellent- nothing too much trouble and very calm when I needed it. Sometimes, I am proud of the NHS and all its staff.

Hallam FM have taken a well known xmas advert and changed the words, they seemed rather apt yesterday....
"hangovers are coming, hangovers are coming, all drink the real thing" (thats the coke ad )
blimey my head pounded yesterday, . Looked at my last blog, blimey i must have been bad. All I know is i slept on the landing (missed the bedroom) and Daz wouldn't talk to me. So I'm told, I was singing carols at the top of my voice at 1130 having failed to get my key in the front door
I have spent this morning delivering christmas cards to the neighbours, all of which looked at me with a wry smile on their faces. Paul next door said I make a funny drunk. It's all such a blur........

I really can't believe it's 11 days to the big day. I'm in such a bah humbag mood it's unreal.
Went out at lunchtime in Rotherham looking for Christmas presents, the only thing I bought, was a jar of coffee for the office.......
Rotherham has the biggest inflatable snowman going in the town centre- i had some enormous urge to put my lit ciggie into it and deflat it
Really getting depressed and I just don't know why. I normally love this time of year. Hopefully it's a passing phase.

So work at 1315 till 2245. Nice

    And same tomorrow night!

And as for the diet? The only thing I fancy eating is plain rice. Which is nice.............

I am 34. Some friends have commented "you made it". One added "just"
    I got
Various birthday cards on parking - including a parking attendant issuing a PCN to a Dalek (OK I work I'm the Senior Parking Officer for Plymouth City Council )
    Peter Kay Book
    Michael Palin Book
Video I Pod (for the bus to work to play my TV clips) (Note I may work in parking but even I think £29 per month on the bus is stonking value for money compared to £4 per day  )
    Socks
New tie (Red and Black - finally my Mum discovers fashion after dressing me in home knitted cast offs for the first 10 years of my life )
2 pairs of work trousers. (Mum has good idea but thinks I'm a stick insect. At least they aren't home knitted. They will go back to the shop for "resizing" )
1 free pint from my landlord (this is a 1st. Well since 25th December)
I am now merry. Thanks to Lady P and Louby for the congrats

    Day 21
Still no smoking. Yet ironically feeling ruddy awful- certainly Thursday and yesterday. Developing a nasty cough- a good sign that the chest is clearing slowly.
Having a quiet weekend at home- spring cleaning now. Smelt the bedroom curtains this morning- yuk they are coming down for a wash today.
Now all I have to do is get Darren to paint the whole house. But he can do that next weekend!!

Today was the first day I actually felt cold during the day. Well actually it was bloody freezing outside the registry office at work as I was having by afternoon fag behind the bins . Mind you it was 4pm and dark so I shouldn't have expected any different.
The funny thing is, is that as i came over the Pennines tonight, it seemed to get warmer. Now I'm not one to get my markers out, but when I left Rotherham it was cold and I needed to do my jacket up fully, but by the time I came into Glossop, I could have the window open.
Even the small minded High Peak Radio claimed it was going to be 12c tomorrow, before blasting out Chesney Hawkes at 605pm. Now after a long day at work, thats just what you don't need!

Firstly we are not Chav's, but my Mum decided to put the chip pan on by mistake when cooking the veg yesterday. Hence it caught fire between the starter and the turkey.
I did the normal manly thing. I took it outside screaming "fire". No damage, but a good story to go back to work with.
    "How was your Christmas?"
"Fine bar the chip pan fire on Christmas Day................"
I have threatened my mum and Dad with a care home as a result.
My mum later claimed she didn't want bath salts but a new MFI kitchen!

I will never go to Asda 2 days before Christmas every again.
Unless it's for a bottle of Baileys or similar Irish Cream drink which makes you feel rather mellow after one glass.

I have to work tomorrow. This could be interesting. I still have red wine!
    Christmas is looking goooooooooood

My house is on an ex council estate. Until today it was the only house on the estate without any lights outside. It was decided that this made our house worse than some of the others. So I've invested in some lights from Wilkinsons for £4.99.
Given the gales forecast for tonight, it may be £4.99 down the drain
Oh and here's the Christmas Tree circa 2007!!!

So I forgot the alarm this morning, so that was a mad morning rush. Pay day today, not coffee bar decaf- all the taste no buzz!
Anyway works lunch which turned into, "can highways beat parking on pint for pint".Answer, yup, parking wins....... thats some hangover in Mexborough Mr Lineacre.
Sorry if daffodiled but Xmas has started.
Will have hangover from hell tomorrow........

Darren and I get "Civil Partnershiped" 4 weeks today.
Frankly we need a wedding planner. Or a Civil Partnership planner. You name it, it's gone wrong lately.
The wedding party was to be held at our best mates pub. He took it over last September. Then 5 weeks ago this happened..... See below.
Yup the glass washer set the whole pub up in flames. We've spent hours trying to sort things out- washing cleaning, but the insurance company have finally decided to rebuild. Luckily the fire crew got Dave the landlord out and his partner.
So we have to redo all the invites tomorrow. Thankly the pub down the road is having us free of charge.
I will never complain about council tax again. I don't mind paying for the fire service at all now.
So we're off to see what the new pub can offer for our big day. Wish us luck
Wyndham Arms, Stonehouse, Plymouth. 1826- 12th May 2007. Reopening in December (after light dusting!!!! )

I have been married for 3 months. I will probably be filing for divorce after today.
My "husband"- and I currently use that word lightly- didn't manage to come home last night. When I found him in the pub at lunchtime he was 4 parts to the wind and told me he'd had a lovely night in the local Holiday Inn with a another guy.
Then to make matters when better- he tells me this the sixth time this has happened in the 6 years we've been together.
So after 4 hours of finding out this information - I even had to put the cheating sod to bed he was so drunk, I feel totally empty, hurt and well like crying. :o I've tried to eat but it hurts like hell. The one thing I will not do is get drunk.
Just as my depression was lifting as well. I'm going to talk to friends now.

I had to bring some work home tonight, well actually it's 3 months filing. Tasmin (my little 18 month old little staffy cross) decides to help Daddy and promptly shreads August's records..........
The fact that it's all letters of complaint is quite funny, and she's still chewing on letters as I type this somehow makes it even better.
My boss will be happy tomorrow when I explain this in the monthly meeting. Could be P45 time!

    Day 3
No rows at work, only one before bed last night- when I lost my rag with Daz. And slept in the spare bed. Anyhoo
Had a pointless course at work this morning on Equality. Now as a gay man I'm all for Equality but it's 2008 and I know things are soooo much better than they were in 1998. But the upshot of this course was to talk about life as if it was 1998 and not 2008? So I lost interest and looked at the duckpond by Plymouth Civic Centre and looked at Stan and Hilda (our 2 ducks) for 3 hrs with my puffer. Actually my puffer could have gone to places which puffers have never been before at certain points  .....
So back to the office and fired off a number of acid emails to idiot colleagues-who thought they could take the mickey.Well they did till now. My reward- a pint of cider after work. And NO fags.
Oh and as a postscript for my Equality course loving tutor who loves dealing with Sexual Orientation? What did I have for dinner tonight?
Faggots. Sorry, you can try to take the faggot out of the man (well you know the rest)
