  1. The last time I remember a hotter August day in Plymouth was back in 1990. Its horrendous here. Surely it's going to go bang
  2. Nothing here overnight. Bar a severe lack of sleep. I've slept in tropical heat but last night- that was nigh on impossible.
  3. Its rumbling again in the far distance. Seems that the moisture is back loading and building up as it hits land and us a lot!
  4. Cracking thunderstorm here in Plymouth now- real deep booming thunder
  5. And we're off. Flashing towards the channel and some deep thunder over Plympton/Plymstock way ???
  6. Beautiful sunny day here on the middle of Dartmoor, but again a lot of middle skies instability. However its warmer towards the coast surprisingly 23c here, 27c back in Plymouth.
  7. Just been up The Hoe, beautifully sunny to Cornwall and hot. Very dark leddon skies towards South Hams/Torbay. We are literally on the dividing line
  8. Well, just been for my lunchtime Oggie, (pasty for you non Plymouthians) and heard some deep rumbling and its black as the Ace of Spades towards Plymouth Hoe and the Sound!
  9. Yup and it's very unstable cloud wise out there. We are due some luck in Plymouth. 2 flashes in the channel already
  10. Just had very unexpected shower here in Plymouth. It wasnt on the radar an hour ago! But it's very unstable sky now
  11. Interesting if you look up BBC News on YouTube, theres a fair bit of video appearing from the early 80s with the added bonus that you do get the Weather forecasts appearing. 1982 is especially prolific (in part to the Falklands War) Here's a classic from May Day 1982 which appears to be one of the coldest although I have no memory of that day- but shows snow to low levels with Michael Fish.

  13. Unless the winds move and it curves (any ideas), could this be a rare Trinidad tracking storm?
  14. I'd like a calm settled September and early October (if only that I'm due to go to Snowdonia on a walking holiday mid October) but after that, it can go stormy as youd like. Weve had wet October last year but no real storms which strip leaves early and we must be due one!
  15. It's the mornings I notice this time of year starting to draw in as I'm normally up at 5am, so it's now obvious that I'm back to putting the kitchen light on to make my 1st coffee of the day. It's also now noticeable that the trees are now darker green, and also I've seen the 1st blackberries.
  16. And yet, the following winter 2013/2014 which was horrendous with the gales and the flooding although snow free, remains my favourite winter without snow. It was wonderfully cathartic and good for my soul and I bought and moved into my new flat slap bang in the middle of February storms, my 1st post divorce home. So again another good memory even associated with dire weather!
