  1. Given the cloud here in Plymouth probably for the best. Shame it could have been promising!
  2. Nuke the deep South..the highly Republican voting area. Sounds even more stupid when you look at it that way. Anyway.. how long till the next invest I wonder?
  3. Remember the Summer very well. It was just warm and then hot Family holiday to Conwy and Snowdonia and it was glorious the whole time. Not a scrap of rain, loads of mountain walking.
  4. Heres my view from Plymouth 2018. It was a glorious hot spell down here- started with a magnificent thunderstorm at the end of May after which the heat just built and built. It was very similar to the summer of 1995, just on the edge of being memorable before the August breakdown after which although still pretty useable, didnt get up there to July heights. 2017. June was amazing here, hot almost to being unbearable. Like 2018, it all started with an amazing thunderstorm end of May and just built up. Shame it broke, but again a lot of useable times in sunshine with friends and family 2014. Enjoyed this summer, after a nightmare 2013 in my personal life, and the stormy winter. June and July were decent, August not so good, but a lot of BBQs and good times had. 2019. Wasnt a summer like the previous two, August was a poor month. June was certainly the best month but it just didnt seem to get going properly. 2016- remember it just never got going. In fact I didnt get to the beach much after a settled spell in June and early July. August was dreadful. 2013. Now, yes it was a decent July here after a damp June and it wasnt brilliant in August. However as I was getting divorced during this summer, it could have been 1995/1976 and I'd have a downer on it! Just remember being very stressed! Ironically had a post divorce holiday in early September in West Cornwall and it was stunning warm and sunny and I was much happier sunbathing at Sennon Cove! 2015. If ever there was a summer when a shift pattern was cruel, it was this one. Every long weekend off every 3 weeks, guess what. It rained. Just awful, again the only time I got to the beach was in September and i had to go to Zakynthos for that!
  5. Thanks for the response Mushyman. Its curious as I know the E QBO failed in 2016 hence the concern its failing now, but those blips are there for 1980 and 1983. But my knowledge isnt as strong on the QBO at all.
  6. Quick question If the QBO is showing in the W but in an E descending, did we not see the same blip in 1980 and 1983 before the E increased and descended properly. Looking at this photo did this not happen?
  7. Friends moaning its chucking it down in Callington SE Cornwall. Dont know if its electric tbh
  8. Funny how I remember that snowfall from January 1985 as being rather successful here in Devon- in fact theres a picture at parents taken at that time of me and my Mum in the snow in the local park! Interestingly, I'd call the snowstorm that was forecast for Sunday 18th December 2010 as a failed channel low down here. It looked like it was going to dump a lot on us in Devon and Cornwall, but it wasn't as productive as Matt Taylor thought it could be on the Countryfile forecast for us.
  9. Yes I agree, that doubling has shocked me.
  10. Flight radar ap. It does appear they've all returned to UK the Glasgow Malaga flight was over the Loire in France before returning.
  11. Well, I'd say we're looking at a lockdown from the end of next week. I've done all the prep I can via food and topped electric meter up very high with about 6 weeks worth, sorted out parents.
  12. Snap. I'm taking over my parents shopping from yesterday. In my job it's very likely I'll catch it, but my Mum has a lung condition and diabetes. If she doesn't go out from today I'll more than happy.
  13. So I went to local football match last night over at Millbrook in SE Cornwall. Given it was rush hour the Torpoint ferry was noticeably quieter than normal. Good match even if my team Saltash lost. However people in the crowd (around 100) were definitely keeping more of a distance than normal and then talk was more on if the season here gets stopped. I'm going to be much more mindful going forward, I wont be going to certain grounds if this hits (Falmouth comes to mind) if you're forced into a big stand. Scary times....
  14. Seems odd that Plymouth is a little oasis currently. Devon is a hotspot and Cornwall has a few. I dont believe that for a second we've none.
  15. Trust me, as someone with BPD, anxiety and depression, this has been tough. Part of my BPD leads me to hord anyway but I'm feeling the strain even at this stage. Just be kind to yourself it's all you can do
  16. Being on leave, I'm going to try and get some fresh air out on Dartmoor today. Seems more sensible walking alone than going to the gym and will get some decent oxygen in me before we get locked down. Think it's called keeping calm and carrying on...
  17. Just had 2 massive rows with my parents. Dad has hospital appointment on Friday. It's none vital. Personally I dont think its sensible for him to go as hes 76, and my Mum has a diabetes, has breathing issues and had 2 heart attacks. In my Mums words " it's perfectly safe" I've some hand gel. it's only a cold. When I pointed out the dangers, "oh it's all hype and it's not here". Never have I lost my temper so much. Theres stubborn and then theres stupid and selfish, as god forbid anything happens as the only child who picks up the pieces.....
  18. Even my little local Coop which I've use for years has a maximum level of things you can buy now ☹
  19. I've never known a Sunday like this work wise. In a 800 space car park, we have 39 cars in. Shops dont shut for another 30mins here. Surface car parks are all empty now as well. Theres literally nobody in the City Centre.
  20. Just home from work. As I pointed out, Plymouth City centre is noticable quieter. However the queues at supermarkets are just ridiculous. Strange and almost odd atmosphere walking through the middle of City. Couldn't get any rice shopping so nipped to my normal Asian shop where I get my spices and there the shelves have been stripped as well.
  21. Its noticable just how quiet Plymouth City Centre is this morning. Even our busiest car park which would be heading towards full is nowhere near it. Equally, theres not many people out walking around either.
  22. Just had the following email from UGLE (Grand Freemasons lodge in London) As the Coronavirus continues to escalate, we are issuing the following urgent guidance above and beyond that issued by Public Health England. This is due to the main age demographic of our membership being in a significantly higher risk group. This advice equally applies to members of the Orders administered from Mark Masons’ Hall and members of the Ancient and Accepted Rite. COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan City, China in December 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) believes COVID-19 more severely affects older people and those with pre-existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes). Based on the WHO’s declaration that this is a public health emergency of international concern, the UK Chief Medical Officers have raised the risk to the UK from low to moderate. On 10 February, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, announced strengthened legal powers to protect public health, and on the 2 March outlined the UK’s national response to the virus. Whilst each unit may decide for itself what precautions it may wish to take, UGLE strongly suggests you follow this advice: If you or a family member are showing signs of illness, please do not attend your Lodge or Chapter meetings and follow the guidance below. We recommend that members consider refraining from any physical contact within the ceremonies, before or after meetings. Given the tactile nature of many ceremonies, if you or candidates are concerned about how they can take place with little or no physical contact, while maintaining their meaning and impact, you may even wish to consider postponing the ceremony until the situation has improved. Minimise mass shared transport (i.e. coaches) to meetings. Wash hands thoroughly before and after meetings for 20 seconds with hot water. This advice stands whether you do or do not wear gloves during your ceremonies. Any member who feels unwell should follow the advice from Public Health England. If a member is known to have been infected with COVID-19, then it is standard policy for Public Health to contact all those with whom he has been in contact. Full co-operation is expected to ensure the risk to other unit members – and members of the public – is minimised. We recommend the Secretary maintains physical possession of the attendance book to assist in this process. If you are worried about a fellow member please keep in contact with them via the phone and text to keep an eye on their wellbeing. Living in Plymouth and due to attend a meeting in April, I'm giving it serious thought about not travelling. So far we've been lucky here in SW. London I ain't so certain about.
  23. Well there was a vicious virus doing the rounds at work about 2 weeks ago, certainly I had it as did most of my team. Felt like flu, wiped us all out. Didnt have the cough but felt dreadful and ached all over. However, this had a real sinus problem so guessing it wasnt. I'm trying to up my vitamins etc on the home to boost my immune system.
  24. I'd expect that as a matter of course. Common sense.
  25. Embargoed until Wednesday but FA will be releasing advice regarding pre match Respect 'hand shakes' to clubs in the National League System to take affect for games this weekend, until further notice. Will circulate to clubs & match officials and put link to advice on twitter. Taken from South West Peninsula League Twitter feed.
