Got a hail storm on going here just now but as I look out my window it's still sunny believe it or not! (Mind you was black to the north and east of me) I'm in cumbernauld in scotland incase any1 asks (I should put it in my sig)

Quite interesting to note that glencoe on wednesday I think it was had the record amount of snow for any ski resort in the entire world for 24 hours at 80CM! How many times can you say a Scottish ski resort beat every other ski resort in the world for snow in 1 day.
-
Truly staggering snow on the mountains here in scotland (and these are just the ski resorts)
(Click on SCO if it isn't already highlighted) Simply staggering amounts! Must be 1 of the best seasons ever.

Starting to turn more sleety, and think we have had our second lightning strike of the night? Can you confirm NUT. If so we can then add Thunder Sleet to our Vocab.
Saw lights flicker a couple more times but not saw any more lightning since our brief burst earlier but rain has turned sleety again.

Not a snow report but just had our first rumble of thunder/lightning for 2010 here in cumbernauld. Noticed a flash then a small rumble. Unexpected but good all the same. (Raining BTW)

Didn't expect snow here in Cumbernauld......but it's falling (and coming down a little bit actually) Probably not heavy enough to leave more than a dusting but didn't expect any snow at all so i'll take it.

Yet another Very Heavy Snow Shower here in cumbie.

The only thing that would make everything complete for this spell would be thundersnow. That would make things interesting!

"Whiteout Cumbernauld" sounds like a cheesy but great 1970s rock band
Tad before my time the 70's That's any snow which melted this morning got a covering again (all roofs inparticulair recovered) This is truly 1 hell of an epic spell of weather.

Whiteout Cumbernauld! Holy damn this is amazing.
-
Snowing yet again here in Cumbernauld and with the wind it's really blowing around (this is 1 hell of a vintage spell of weather that I am never going to forget in a hurry)
-
Fairly heavy snow here in Cumbernauld now (blowing about in the wind too)

Very thick, Huge snowflakes falling here in cumbie. 10th day in a row for snow here! Never seen anything like it in my 28 years.

My sister is stranded at work tonight. Can't get home to tomorrow morning. That's how much havoc a 90 minute snow storm has caused here. Amazing.
-
Still snowing very hard here. Really quite amazing. Easily the best snow since the Feb 2009 spell.
-
Cumbernauld. Heavy snow again. Loving it. Any snow from yesterday that did melt today has unmelted itself. Amazing spell of weather.

Like the rest of you lot all I can say is what a sudden transformation to Rain then Snow. Came out of absolutely nowhere and was an absolute whiteout for a few minutes. (I'm in Cumbernauld) Easing slightly now but wow!

Thanks for the welcomes. Wish my camera memory card hadn't gone missing and I would have got some pics (I'm in the central lowlands) Really would have had to been here to see it. Didn't look as of there was too many showers on the radar......but I reckon we got the heaviest of the day.

My 1st ever post on here. (Registered on the other forums too although i'm more a TWO guy) don't hold that against me. I would like to report on the tremendous downpour we got here in Cumbernauld yesterday. I had noticed by 3pm that it was quite dark outside but I really didn't think anything of it (skies more or less remained the same although slowly got darker) eventually by 4 it looked like a shower was ready to brew. It didn't arrive to half 4 but when it did arrive? It was 1 of the worst showers I had ever seen. The rain for 15 minutes was trpoical (can only be described as tropical because I had never seen anything like it) Raindrops we're absolutely huge and torrents of rain came down so it seemed. Got so heavy that I couldn't see out my bedroom window! :o Eventually eased off after about 15 minutes or so but the Garden (which was just starting to dry after out after all the deluges of this summer) is completely flooded out again. Torrents of water we're also running down the street. Absoluetly no thunder or lightning but a pretty extreme (if albeit very short) downpour of rain.

Had a 15 minute storm here. Quite a downpour to go with it too.
