  1. I think a lot of people are going to find it very hard-going this coming autumn/winter, having to put up with the depleted light levels, coupled with the fact that we just haven't had a chance to enjoy the benefits of sunshine this year, especially topping up the Vitamin D.
  2. I thought it was supposed to be a lovely summer's day today (the only one for 5 weeks or so!)?? Started off OK but the thick grey cloud is back yet again. I give up!
  3. What a day! It really is pitiful and has descended into the realms of disbelief that this 'summer' has been so terribly bad. It feels as if we have been robbed of summer and only have autumn, winter and the interminable dark evenings and mornings to look forward to (and no. I don't like Christmas either, so it isn't a bright spot in the coming months!).
  4. I really had high hopes for today when I woke up to a beautiful, blue sky and sunshine! That has sadly disappeared to be replaced with yet more greyness and rain - the wind is picking up again too! So fed up with it!
  5. Unfortunately I have to drive home! Make up for it there though!
  6. I was feeling so fed up with this awful weather than I had a large wine tonight at the pub (we only go twice a week) instead of medium - unknown for me!
  7. What a miserable, grey, chilly morning! 14 degrees. Come back summer, please! It's my birthday this coming week and I need sun!
  8. Snap! Mine came on yesterday lunchtime for about half and hour! Madness in July.
  9. It's feeling distinctly chilly here - only 17 degrees. I have been thinking about putting the heating on for a bit, but have compromised by closing all the windows! I don't like it - come back, sunshine, please!
  10. Could you please enlighten us as to why you like darkness? I truly don't understand.
  11. Me! I absolutely love daylight at 4 am. I hate, hate, hate those mornings when it doesn't even start to get light until nearly 7.30 am.
  12. How absolutely beautiful are these long days! I love that it starts to get light around 3.35 am and doesn't really get dark until after 10 pm. I crave light, singing birds, beautiful trees and plants. It's a shame we can't just 'stick' like this. I don't even think I would hate winter so much if it weren't for the interminable darkness.
  13. I love this time of the year so much - I love the light early mornings with the birds singing and the sun shining. I have no idea why people want it dark, dark, dark in the mornings! I just wake up, love the sunshine and go to sleep again!
  14. Love the light evenings but really dislike the dark mornings again, which will last for a couple of weeks. I much prefer light mornings to light evenings! I just wish it would get warmer - it's still too cold to hang around in the garden for long periods.
  15. Almost my favourite day of the year - everything getting better for a WHOLE 6 months!! Light, warmth and sunshine, please!
  16. Earliest sunset has arrived here - 16.01 - static for a few days until the 15th and then the light starts to return! Yipeee!
  17. Today was absolutely dire - didn't get light until nearly 8.30 am and dark already by 3.45 pm. I hate these days of darkness, gloom, rain and wind. Give me a May morning with the birds singing at 5 am, glorious blue sky and sunshine. Sigh!! Only 3 weeks and 4 days until the shortest day.
  18. 51 until the shortest day and then another 51 (approx) just to get back to where we are today!!
  19. These dark mornings are utterly depressing. It actually makes me feel ill and dizzy to get up in the dark.
  20. Really dreading those horrible dark mornings - it seems to get worse each year! It's such a claustrophobic feeling compared with beautiful light mornings with the sun streaming in and the birds singing happily!
  21. It really looked like autumn in my local town yesterday. I was on some of the side roads looking for parking and there were brown leaves on the ground everywhere round the parked cars - it looked like a late October day! I hope the trees recover well.
  22. Completely agree - it was horrendous! Coupled with the fact I have a very painful shoulder and can't get it comfortable, I reckon I had about 2.5 hours sleep too. It really wears you down!
  23. Another horrible, horrible night. Hardly slept a wink. Have had all the doors and windows open since 6.30 and a lovely cool breeze is wafting through the house. 12C at the moment. Not looking forward to yet another boiling hot day.
