  1. So, so fed up with this heat now - it was just perfect outdoors at 8am with gorgeous blue sky and 20C. I wish it could stay like that all day. I feel totally drained of energy now and just want it to stop!
  2. I always find August a very melancholy month, more so even than October. I think it's knowing that everything is going to get worse and darker for another 4 months before we turn the corner again, whereas in October it's only 2 months away! I was only saying yesterday that my garden looks like a late September garden rather than how it should look in early August! All my veg are over, the plants and flowers are struggling. Such a shame!
  3. I absolutely hate the nights drawing in - hate the horrible claustrophobic feeling it creates. I love it being light at 4.30 ish in the morning - I never pull my curtains, winter or summer, so that I get maximum light. No trouble sleeping in the light either - guess I am lucky.
  4. Enough, enough - I keep going outside to see if the clouds are approaching, but nothing yet! My poor dog is flaked out on the floor and could hardly be bothered to eat her lunch. I used to think I loved hot weather, but after this, I think I will embrace winter more (if only it wasn't so horribly dark all the time!).
  5. It must be heating up - the pine cones on the trees around us have started cracking and spilling seeds! First time I have heard that this year.
  6. And here comes the cloud yet again, after a simply stunning early morning. Sigh!!
  7. I know - I find it very sad too. There's so much anticipation when the evenings get lighter and lighter from late February onwards and then before you know it, it's the Longest Day and the downhill journey begins. I don't know where the first half of the year has gone! Also, the birds have almost stopped the dawn chorus I have noticed.
  8. I am totally fed up with the howling wind we seem to have to endure, whatever the weather. Sunny - it's windy, cloudy - it's windy, raining - it's windy. Every single day this week has been the same.
  9. That song has got to be the most depressing song EVER written!! It immediately lowers my mood and almost makes me want to cry!!
  10. It hasn't even been 'hot' here today - I am on the coast but never felt even a bit uncomfortable. In my sweatshirt and leggings now.
  11. I just knew this would turn into a late spring/early summer with beautiful clear, sunny early mornings clouding over by 9.30 ish and then the sun comes out again late evening. It is so frustrating! It really had the promise of a beautiful summer's day this morning, but now it's cloudy and the breeze has picked up yet again.
  12. Well, a thoroughly unpleasant day here today. Started off nice enough but clouds spread in by 11 am followed by drizzle, cloud, wind and then a heavy hailstorm! End of May, anybody?
  13. Well, it's so chilly here that our heating has just clicked on!! At the end of May! I would like to know what happened to those wonderful summer mornings we used to have in the 80s/90s when there was that beautiful smell of summer on the air in the early morning, with the promise of a glorious day.
  14. I hope this isn't going to be one of those summers where the day starts bright with beautiful blue sky and then clouds over by 8am for the rest of the day until early evening! We have had a succession of these mornings now - today was sunny and bright at 5.30, now it's dull, overcast, windy and chilly!
  15. I know, so annoying isn't it? Earlier the sky was the most beautiful uniform shade of blue! Sigh!
  16. It has been windy here all week on and off, and a biting cold wind at that! Add to that the downpours we have had, and the hailstones just now, it is definitely not very spring-like! At least the the mornings and evenings are getting ever lighter - I love that!
  17. Just thank goodness it is the shortest day today - it will all get better (albeit slowly) from now on. Roll on spring!!
  18. Weather is not looking promising for the Christmas Holidays here on the South Coast. As usual, it looks like rain, wind and very (too) mild over the 3 days. Not what I would like. I can't remember the last time we had a cold Christmas Day down here.
  19. I actually experienced the trial with constant BST - it was horrendous. My mother used to take me to school - I had to be there at 8.40 and it was pitch dark - I never felt I woke up all day! Please do not even think of bringing it back.
  20. I absolutely detest dark mornings - it's getting harder and harder to get up in the morning now! Give me those wonderful spring and summer early sunrises, when the birds are singing and there is the smell of heat in the air!
  21. Awful, isn't it? Yet another grey, dismal morning. I almost cried when I saw the sky this morning! I wonder whether the Red Arrows will go ahead?
  22. I agree that not everybody wants to spend time on the beach - personally I hate going to the beach and never do! However, I DO expect to be able to enjoy my garden in the summer, sitting out and eating dinner outside. We didn't eat outside once this year as it was never warm enough, sunny enough and windless enough on the same day! Pretty miserable summer for us on the South Coast.
  23. Welcome to yet another day of thick, grey cloud and unrelenting gloom! At least if it rained, it would be different! Oh wait - a nice deluge expected here on Sunday and Monday!
  24. The sun didn't come out at all here today! What a waste of a Bank Holiday. No doubt Christmas Day will be mild, windy and rainy - as usual.
