  1. Its not been cold of late.. just not reliable to stay dry. Depressing how poor this summer has gone from June onwards.. At least we know August can't be has bad as July.. if it is. I'm  getting a huge rope for next summer and dragging the UK further south. just need a few helping hands.

  2. Alex Deakin  gets on my nerves when it comes to climate change . Its obviously happening. but he seems to push it when its not needed.. (just my opinion) in the sense of saying July has been around average. Im sure he will change  that next time theres deep dive.

July 2012 from my recollection  was very cold and cloudy. This July has been basically wet wet and more wet. both rubbish weather months

  3. My memory goes back to the whining from some in early May thinking the weather patterns were stuck and that would be it for the rest of the year. But May turned out decent in the end.I mentioned i felt it wouldnt be too bad. as it wasn't that windy

Unfortunately, its not the case now, west to north-westerlys blowing strongly from that direction. Very difficult to get pressure to rise from the south.

  4. if it wasn't for most of May and June been very good on the top of an outstanding summer last year. I think most of us would be getting out sleeping pills and vodka..

Hopefully August and September make up for this July. such is the weather in the UK. we may get an Indian summer this year.. so who knows.

  5. I watched  the met office look ahead for summer. So no idea is basically their idea... Could be this and could be that. But remember. we can't predict what a day will be like in August.. but we will just say its going to be  45% more likely to be a hot summer.. but we can't rule out the 2% of it being a cold summer.. so really just throwing darts at a wall and hoping to hit the dartboard

The average for the month as a whole is 18.4c, from 17c on the 1st to 20c on 31st. Average sunshine is 208 hours.

The next week will probably struggle to reach 15-16c and get maybe 15 hours of sun.

If a poor May was to be expected, then surely that would be reflected in the averages?

Because you only take into consideration good years..You can not deny May is not that great a month if your looking  for over all summer like weather.. You expect it to be always like that and its simply not.,

Averages are taken over  a 20 year period. You have 3 excellent mays  and 4 poor Mays.. and 3 average Mays in 10 years. the outcome is somewhere in between poor to decent weatherwise

That doesn’t mean we have to accept it though. By this stage in the year, we would normally expect to see a week or so of nice settled weather, combined with clear sunny warm weather. Nobody is expecting a heatwave, but a week or two of 20-22c with warm sunshine isn’t asking too much.

Temps struggling to reach 17c with lots of cloud, is still pretty poor for May.

If people tell me cloudy conditions and 20c is acceptable, when we move into June, I think the time for polite conversation will be coming to an end.

Obviously we don't want it to be like this.. but it is. like i say often. September is more reliable than May. I agree its the second week in June and its terrible its time to get out the moaning and groaning and I will be the first.. so move over 😄

  8. what is an average May day for London?? says 17c from what ive looked at it. some people think its higher?

This May is just a typical May for most of the country. I don't get the impression its suppose to be something spectacular

We've had lots of poor Mays down the years. So its nothing new.. In fact its expected..

I think July 13 felt exceptionally warm given how cool the spring and June had been, also how poor a run of summers we'd had since 2006. Indeed July 13 was the warmest month since July 2006. July 2006 is often forgotten but up there with the hottest summer months.

July 18 and 22 came on the back of heat late spring and earlier summer and didn't have the same sudden affect.

    Thanks 🙂

  10. I'm no expert on weather, but i find the fact its not been very windy an interesting situation. the weather maybe slow moving showers. and the low pressures ain't moving through quickly.. Just i find in the UK when it gets very windy.. Its leads to very mixed weather.. usually from the West/Northwest.. I just think eventually pressure will rise and stick around.similar to how low pressure is  now..It can't rain for ever (l know it probably will) but i do live in hope we'll get a decent enough summer.  summers like 2018 and 2022 are rare. Just like Summers like 2007 and 2012 are..be a mixture of everything
