  1. Indeed  can't remember the last time I  heard thunder and lightning.  Theres still 2 weeks left of July. August and September. Could be an exceptional year for settled summer weather.. If you like this weather that is. I like it just wish the mercury  would drop a little

  2. June hasn't been exceeding so far, but its been decent. way worse Junes than this. And hopefully pressure will rebuild again soon after the break down on Saturday. . so all in all not a bad start to summer 2020.. After a good April and May..the weather so far this year has been nice

  3.  you focus on the good summers and ignore the constant meh in between.Every year 2012 and 2007 get mentioned when the charts look poor and when they look great its 2006/2018/2003 and so on. we will get some warm spells this summer we often do. But to ask for 4/5 weeks of sunshine in the UK in a row. you're having a giraffe..

A few of those in the MO thread. I read it every day, the same posters taking great delight in painting an outlook that just doesn't reflect reality  This week would be a cold washout if their words were accurate. In reality it is often bright; sunshine and showers with temperatures bang on average, even a degree or two above, throughout. Feeling more than pleasant in the drier spells, which won't be that uncommon this week.

A typical British summer week, not perfect, but not terrible either. We're not in the Med, after all!

exactly indeed.. i'm sure we've all had Junes that have been way worse than this. west and cold and misreable. First 3 days of the Month was decent.. Today looks fine for the most part.. Thursday and the weekend looking ok. Who knows what the second half of June will bring. So all in all. Its not been that bad and indeed we aren't in the med and to be fair. I doubt anyone could cope with the heat day after day. Im more than happy with 19/24c all summer

  5. Looking pretty decent next week. No heatwave just high teens in my location  to low twenties in the south/east. if you look at the met office.. I'd settle for that.. Don't care much for 11/12c with heavy rain.. after that who knows what'll happen

  6. Like I posted in the other spring thread previously.. I don't get annoyed at our weather. I get annoyed at ridiculous weather forecasters.. I'm still rather puzzled at the metoffices   very warm to hot spells predicted for this period. IE late May.

even with all their super duper nasa technology and all their wizzydizzy mega computers.. they can't the get weather in the UK right.

we might get a coolish June. But we may get an above average July to make up for it. Anyone thinking we will get 3 stinking hot months. never happens. Even in 2018  August went to pot. Thats where i add in May and September weather to make up for lack of a month of Summer.

  7. We expect too much in the UK... actually spring has been pretty decent. often its wet and cold. March/April and particularly May have been nice. (nice for the UK) that is.  Last May was dreadful. If we can get good second half of June and warm July..July usually delivers most years. and hopefully a good August for a change. I think most will settle for that.. Anyway I personally say. I think September is often better than June. Its what i have noticed personally anyway.  Saying that June and July were nice here last year.. Obviously not perfect.. but again we ain't in Spain.

  8. Now Susan Powell is at it "no sign of an heatwave on the way" the only people who have been flaunting this have been the weather forecasters not the general public.  If she had finished with. We may not see an heatwave for a long long  time while because northern blocking is taking place. Then i would have more respect. But NOPE. what''ll happen now is for the rest of June

The weather forecasters will focus of a possibility of a nice  3/4 days happening and make it seem like its something amazing is taking place. when we get closer to the time  frame it won't happen.

    Just be honest with the public and don't exaggerate. If your not 100% sure of something don't make it appear more than it is.;

    Thanks!

  9. This is yesterdays Met office for Friday 27th- Sunday 5th of June

Dry conditions with sunny spells are expected for most on Friday, although some cloud and light rain or showers are likely to be seen in the northern regions. Over the weekend, fine and dry weather will persist, however some light showers remain possible, especially in the north and east. Near normal temperatures can be expected for most, perhaps feeling warmer in the south and southwest. Into the following week, the weather is likely to become more settled, with any few showers most likely to be seen in the north and east. This means drier conditions and above average temperatures for most, particularly in the south and southeast, and fewer showers all round. As we move into the beginning of June, drier than average conditions are expected to persist overall.

"Above average temperatures for most".. Yet the BBC have my Location 14/15c for the most part..

The Metoffice are suppose to be the go to guys. with all their massive technology and they are constantly wrong

  10. watching the last 2 bbc weekly outlooks. Helen Willets mentioned  last night how temperatures were going to be in the early to mid twenties in a few days time for some locations. Now no mention of it this evening..

That kinda forecast gives people watching it, the wrong impression like last week with the metoffice  when warm to hot spells was used.. Its like this every year.. I don't wish to hear what might happen with a super duper amazing heat and outlook. when it doesn't occur just sounds stupid.

  11. I go by the feel of things. Last summer  by the end of the month of May  it started to feel summer like. and June and July it never felt cold albeit  3/4 days.. This year like most years. The wind just seems like its gonna keep sending in showers and its gonna knock the feeling of warmth on the head.. I just want the high to sit bang over us and the winds too drop. Otherwise it will be constant days of gusts of west  to north west winds making it feel unpleasant.

Saying that its a nice day here. so can't complain

Embarrassingly lagging behind again with these forecasts!

I only really come on this site at this time of year. It seems every year  this thing happens. All the models and the media are bigging up the weather.. We had the BBC saying  a couple of days back. 24/25/26c in the south.. even my location on the 10 day weather had 23c for 2 days .now its back to slightly above average... Like like last August and the so called heatwave which never happened. The met office in their prediction made it appear it was nailed on for a week and half. Then just  a day or so before it was suppose to happen.. Alex Deakin came on the youtube channel and instead of admitting they made it appear an heatwave was going to happen. He claimed it was the results of models.. The same models they use words like

"Temperatures will be widely warm or very warm for most through this period, perhaps locally hot in the south and southeast"

Most people I know and spoken too, got the feeling the weather from the weekend onwards was on the way  up and we'd get a taste of summer.

It's not a complaint just wish they wouldn't use wording like that..
