  1. Although the temps will be lower at the weekend and then pick up during the week it will come with horrible humidity, which is the only thing I don't like. It's just uncomfortable. If it stayed like this it would be perfect, nice and warm and minimal humidity,
  2. Seriously, not enough cold air. You can tell there will be no thunder by the lack of humidity. Monday/Tuesday will be the first real chance of thunder though and if thunder happens that shows there's most likely a breakdown imminent.
  3. Very much doubt they'll be any thunder today, not enough cold air. If there is any thunder it will be extremely localized Next week it's very much likely there will be though unfortunately. .
  4. 28.4c here at the moment, a lower breeze than yesterday but doesn't feel as warm due to the direction. Making the most of today because the weekend looks more unsettled with more cloud cover and lower temps. Tuesday looks particularly bad with a lot of rain, might fizzle out though.
  5. I work out most days in this doing landscaping, usually digging through flint and chalk manually. Did it on Monday and Tuesday, haven't done it for the last three days because the boss is on holiday. So I know what it feels like to work in heat, I've worked in much hotter than this. Fair enough I'm young so it probably doesn't take it's toll as much. I certainly don't think of it as endurance as long as I keep hydrated, I'd take this over the cold any day. I don't complain all the time. Most of the people who are complaining are people who are working indoors, largely due to insufficient cooling in the workplace. I'm afraid it is a case of making the most of it, the last time we had a spell like this was seven years ago. This is a proper Summer and I and most other people are really enjoying it. Sure there are many people who are praying this will break down, but there is a much higher percentage that aren't I'd bet.
  6. Oh boy, do I know that feeling. Two nights ago there was a bloke Tuted out of his head outside of my flat on the street singing My Way at the top of his lungs. Safe to say when I went out and chased him down the street with a cricket bat he was very lively on his toes, not quite tap dancing though.
  7. Yep my room is facing East so I get the morning sun shining right in. I keep the curtains drawn almost all the time. Hate doing it but otherwise the sun is really glaring. Very bad in Winter though as it catches the cold air badly. My room really gets the heat this time of year though because we have Triple glazing. That made more difference than the insulation to me.
  8. Oh don't get me wrong, many people find it uncomfortable and I fully appreciate that. People's body's work differently and some cope better than others. It also comes down to whether or not you're used to it or not. I just think I was born with a genetic disposition to heat, all my family are the same. Have a lot of melanin in our skin which means we don't burn. Just get browner and browner without going red. It also helps that I was regularly exposed to the heat as a child, not many photos of me as a child without a tan. So I'm really not mocking anyone who says their finding it tough in this heat, especially the old and weak. the only thing I object to is everybody wishing it was over and then complaining when it does break down. This sort of spell is rare so people should make the most of it as we will probably have a bad winter. Personally I hate Winter but I don't moan about it as long as we had a good summer, which for the last seven years has been non existent. A bad winter is bearable as long as it isn't followed with a dismal Summer, that's when it really gets tedious. Yep I recently had my flat insulated, certainly adds to the temps. Cuts out the noise of the neighbors playing their jungle music at 2 in the morning as well .
  9. Nothing will ever compare to the humidity in Singapore though, absolutely horrid. Feels as if you're in an oven, not even due to the temps but the humidity.
  10. My hallway thermostat just clicked at 29/30c. Admittedly I've always had a high tolerance to heat, people can be sweating and groaning and I'll be sitting next to them going 'what!! It's humidity that is uncomfortable because it makes you feel clammy, this spell it's been minimal so I've had zero need for a fan. This my first summer in my lifetime that it's been nice and warm but not horribly humid, 2006 was very bad for that. 1995 was apparently very similar to this spell but I wouldn't remember that as I was only 3. The temps can get as high as they want, doesn't bother me as long as we don't get intense humidity. I just open the window during the day and shut it at night. Have no problems sleeping.
  11. Always been my point, nobody ever complains about the heat when on holiday but they do at home even though it's 10 degrees cooler sometimes and less humid. I haven't needed a fan once during this spell, all down to very low humidity.
  12. Absolutely beautiful. We have been long overdue this. Which is why I hope it lasts as long as possible before the next run of seven dismal summers.
  13. Fair enough. Suppose it differs with where you are and how your body deals with humidity and temperature. That sky is such a nice colour today.
  14. Hahaha. Suppose I shouldn't complain, could of been MUCH worse. Just I'm a bit of a hot weather freak is all. Hotter the better. As long as there isn't too much cloud and wind it'll be fine. Yep, looking that way. The 23rd is looking like a real hot one, been the same for the last week on the forecast and hasn't changed.
  15. I don't know where people are getting this from. I remember the summer of 06' being a few degrees warmer than this but very similar in the way it's going. Was horribly humid though even for me. I had troubles sleeping and that is unheard of for me no matter the temps. This July has been brilliant though, a little humid in the mornings but goes come mid morning or afternoon and then it's very comfortable. The humidity is sitting around 30%, perfectly good. The lack of humidity shows in us having little to no storms.
  16. I think Sunday will be about 24-25c, any other time it would be OK but it's my Bday. It had to cool off at that time didn't it.... Damm winds coming in from the east and the high pressure moving up north.
  17. Haha, same. I think we have a great chance this year, as long as the jet stream stays up north and we continue to get the hot air from the south. You only have to look at the temperatures on the continent and it looks very great, would take a lot in reality to break it down. Unfortunately we're an island though so you can never bank on anything. I certainly don't think we'll be seeing any record temperatures but we have a good chance of this summer being looked back upon in the same light as 1995 and 1959, not for it's intensity but longevity.
  18. Oh dear, anything but storms. Hoping and praying this doesn't break down for the foreseeable future.
  19. It's looking like Sunday will be better than Saturday. Supposed to be cooler on Saturday and a fair bit of cloud.
  20. I think we'll see the height of our temps next week and then it'll break down in the last few days of July or start of August. Praying it doesn't though, hopefully it lasts until near the end of September.
