I do feel the heaven gods have not been kind to you good folk in the NW this summer. Looks like endless days of cloud and the odd days of token sunshine . I note this mornings charts have a rainfall over you in the middle of a high pressure and no where else in Western Europe. Also the cricket matches last week were rain affected in both Manchester and Leeds whilst the rest of the country remained parched ( England and Wales ).  Surely, you are due a bit of luck in the sunshine stakes !

In fairness it's not been that bad this year, compared to recent summers it's been very warm and dry and we have had some good sunny days, we were down in the midlands earlier in the week and the ground looked a lot more parched than when we returned home .

  2. I have travelled extensively over the years and experienced 40c+ temps before ,but the heat today in the garden made me feel uncomfortable ,I had to keep going inside just to cool down,I was a bit concerned as I had major heart surgery in February so I didn't want to tempt fate,We visited Kos Greece in June and temps were in the low/mid 30's but I never felt uncomfortable or worried . I have a couple of weather sensors in the garden and at one point  they were both registering between 41c-42c  in the shade,I know temps are liable to be affected by external objects but nevertheless it was bloody hot.Currently 27.2c and feeling much better especially after another cool shower. We're going down to Birmingham on Sunday for a couple of days to meet up with friends ,nice to see it's likely to stay relatively hot( between 23-27c forecast)

Just cut the grass (can’t really be described as a lawn) and didn’t realise how brown it has gone with the sun and heat over the last week or so; it’s probably as dried out as I have ever seen it in 25 years living in the house.

that said I’m happy the rain looks like staying well south of here with a continuation of the dry, albeit cooler weather lasting over the weekend.p and into next week.

I’d sooner spend 30 minutes with the hose pipe than after 5 horrendously hot days spent working inside, end up with two days of rain on my days off.

Me too, I was pleased to see that we will probably get a sunny warm weekend after the earlier forecasts.Very hot again here today.
