A bit of a shame that the South West does go into the warmer air I have checked via the met office and it seems that Cornwall only has 2 days of very cold temperatures However this is from where I live but it looks awesome especially Eastern England Get excited guys it's coming

Always gotta keep a balanced mindset haven't we But yes it's certainly going to get colder though how cold and if snow is involved will come later

Unfortunately the models will stay play around with trends for the time being till a general model agreement has been reached

GFS Temperatures looks to return to average/sightly above average starting from the 11th January

NAO starting to go into two groups while one goes back to just around negative while the other remains negative AO more scattered though only two members go above to postives the majority remains below negative

Something of note is that the GFS seems to blow up that low in a matter of 12 hours quite quickly? Maybe over doing it ? Also a knick around the Isle Of Wright?

I have to agree with you regarding spotting trends within the ensembles It is what it is unfortunately but at least next week they will be come cold and the chances of some snowfall for some Hopefully during this time we might start getting a trend for quite cold conditions to make a comeback though of course it's all up in the air due to SSW and other factors It all makes for some great model watching regardless of mild or cold

They are but it is also wrong to have misleading claims that seems most likely not to happen and you can also tell these same folk are no longer posting on the MOD thread It seems that there is a certain "bias" that favours then coldies there If you post anything that's not Cold you are denounced in simple terms I have tried posting some of my opinions on there either to get blasted for them or from to magically go pop It's really sad that some folk won't post there anymore and needs to be a more general model discussion

You will find that especially looking into the long range for snow forecasts/depths are quite inaccurate though perhaps some good news for Morocco if snow is your thing there Unfortunately it does seem that most Models have backed off from a very cold/snowy outlook for around Mid January to a somewhat below average spell for a time though it remains to see what the SSW will do for good or bad It is unfortunate that we will led up the garden path along with some misleading posts which caused confusion which I will admit didn't help matters Though UKMO does seem a bit different from this morning with lower pressure around Spain and some heights around Norway so maybe a mini beast from the east somewhere along the long? We still have about 2 months for a potential cold spell so anything calling that "Winter is over" needs to stop Our next stop will be the last third of January to see what the SSW brings though Models are going to be all over the place till then Looking forward to seeing what the ECM shows tonight
