I know its the wrong thread but i dont know if it is of any value to you model watchers, positioning etc ( please forgive my terminology ) but here in Derby i`ve got flakes of snow falling, only odd ones and that many it has now stopped ! dont know if its a help or hinderance !!

i totally agree with what yourself and Jethro say. but if `the models `are saying it then why is it not happening in real time ? yes it is difficult, but in this day and age of technology maybe better eh

exactly Andy, forget charts models etc, if its gonna snow it will !! but then again it might not, doesn`t matter what it says on charts models etc what comes down from the sky is right !! no two models are the same at the moment so how can anybody possibly know whats going to happen. have a guess !! ( and if you look at the charts they might give a clue ) !!

even the model output lot have fallen out with each other !! no posts for 40 mins !!

At the moment there is uncertainty with how far north the low gets, there is milder air to the south of this so we won't be sure of who gets the initial rain changing to snow until much closer in. What we want for the moment is for model agreement across the board in terms of the pattern. So far this evening we have this but are waiting for the ecm to come out.

The GEM is excellent this evening and has the low much further south, the ukmo has the low the furthest north so far with the gfs in between, all the major models so far agree on the general pattern. Almost there folks but we need another day here to be relatively sure of things but overall a great start to the evenings model output.

i really need some help and advise my daughter is in Canturbury she is going to try to drive home to Maidstone. When will the snow arrive and will it effect her drive. I want her home safely as i feel if she stays in Canturbury i will not see her till Tuesday next week. Can anybody advise what she should do and timings please she is 19 and has never driven in this sort of snow.

Hi SQ1, Although it stings my tongue to say it !! get her to watch the Met office forecasts, if they are as good for down there as they are here she wont go far wrong.The Met said no snow for Derby they were bang on !! snow for Leicestershire, which is not far from us in Derby, snow !! but most of all be safe !!!

With them fax charts id have expected snow to fall over the next 3 days alot more widely than being forecast

exactley mate, people are posting this and that chart ohj yes its definatly snow !! where? its 4.8 temp here and raining. net weather radar shows the snow going southwards,sothat is not comeing up. the local radio as i type is saying rain /drizzle maybe expecting 5- 10 cm`s snow anywhere tomorrow. but thats 24hrs away .
