Cloudy and 2.6° here. Radar claims sleet right over me but nothing falling ? Don't wanna be a pessimist but I'll be amazed if anything comes of all this where I am.
-
My forecast's gone from rain Sunday and a touch of sleet Monday to ligh snow over several hours Sunday and nothing Monday. Proper nowcasting given the snow'a supposedly starting in an hour!

Some nutcase is setting off fireworks here. I'm assuming it's a fellow Netweather member ?

Wow. They really word it as 'Yellow Snow' now do they
Think I might give going outside in that a miss to be honest
Arguably better than 'yellow wind'?
@bobbydog beat me to it ?

I'd imagine what he's done is looked at the precip accumulation (20mm) and just assumed all of it would fall as snow.
And fiddled the units

Feeling somewhat out of it over here in the western frontier of Surrey

Still too marginal over my side - gained and then lost again sleet/snow symbols ? Anyone else from my area in here?

Sleet's back for Monday, and this time it's for a full 12 hours. And a bit early Sunday morning. It'll change again shortly ?
Downgrade again on MetO and NW now in line too - brief amount of sleet Monday. Interestingly, the forecast for my workplace in Wilts no longer has any sleet at all. I daren't check the models today.

MetO has now removed even the traces of sleet for me for Monday, whereas NW has me with 57% of snow for most of the day ?

I seem to be right on the boundary line, which would explain the back-and-forth re: sleet on the forecast. So close, may have to bundle kiddo in the car and nip up to Berks if they get anything.

Between 4-6 inches for Hampshire and western Surrey as well on the 12z ECM op. Plenty of time for changes however!
Filthy jokes aside, the ECM must think we'll be getting the largest sleetflake imaginable. I'm wondering if I should take out extra home insurance in case it takes the chimney off.

And now Monday's downgraded for me

I'll be gobsmacked, too! Like you, am expecting cold rain. Not like me to post these silly, ramp charts so I apologise but they are being produced. Plenty to be resolved but currently, Monday is looking quite interesting. I hope at least some of us will see some snow
Ramp away! Chances are low but I'll take this over the nonsense we've been facing over the last few years. I suspect I'm in one of the worst places for snow - too far east to get anything from the current set-ups and too far west for a lot of the stuff that hits London or Kent

Agree with you, I'm expecting sleet here at best on Sunday, with lots of rain and strong winds. I'm more interested in Monday's synoptic as it is quite rare to have such a deep low give our region NE'ly gales, plus some model output is predicting snow for our region. I'm rather sceptical but this chart shows us in with a chance of some lying snow.
If that comes off I'll be gobsmacked! ? I mean, in a good way, but still! That's a million miles away from anything I've seen from Met...tempering my expectations after several years of bilge, as much as I'd love that to verify. At the moment I'm not even expecting sleet on Sunday, just rain and temps around 7-8°.

I'll be amazed if I see sleet in a lamppost at this rate. MetO forecasts still flip-flopping only a couple of hours out...the light snow they earlier thought my area would get around 1700 today has disappeared, so it's all incredibly marginal. Monday currently looks a bit better but I won't be surprised if that disappears too tbh. The weather does whatever it does ?

Look at Monday-Wednesday - you're going to get pasted. And yes I would rather see the south covered in rain if I'm going to get nothing than watch endless snow drift south of me.
Pasted?? Where I am is currently due rain on Sunday and a brief flurry of sleet Monday. Hence the only weather warning I'm under is for wind.
I'd prefer more areas get some decent snow than only a few get blizzards. I don't begrudge children in other regions experiencing snow in winter.

Good for you. I can't be that self-less; having not had a proper white-out for many a year - I'm going to want to naturally see it track towards me. The point I was making is that's a want I can express a thousand other places than the model thread, for intelligent discussion of output not childish wah wah wahing and woop woop woop ing. Good for you guys if the blizzard does hit you; I'd be happier if it falls as rain though.
I've no idea why you think the south is in any way likely to get a blizzard in the next few days? We're not the ones under a yellow or amber snow warning. You'd be happier if the south only gets rain? I haven't seen anyone express such sentiments about people in the north.

A small amount of snow isn't something to write home about; if that's what was tracking south we wouldn't care; we're talking about a blizzard disappearing from our eyes to the south; you guys would be happy with a few flakes so why can't the weather gods let you have that and give the blizzard to us; who need more than a few flakes (I've had that a few times this season).
We wouldn't just be "happy with a few flakes", that's just a testament to how snow-starved we are compared to the usual areas that tend to do much better. Congrats on already seeing snow a few times this season. When I lived in both the north and the midlands I was always delighted when the south got to see some snow as I was aware my region(s) had a much better chance of snow each winter, in terms of both frequency and accumulation.
-
We always get IMBYitus when snow's forecast but what's truly staggering this year is watching a minority of people who're currently sat under MetO warning areas and with a really good chance of being dumped on over the next few days still bemoaning the idea that snow-starved places might actually see a few flakes.

Oh good. For a moment there I feared coldies might actually get some snow in winter and the mild-lovers would have to struggle on through with only 11.5 months of the year, but I'm delighted to see we've managed to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory once again.
