  1. Well, a little disappointed this morning. The wind is barely damaging well it isn't at all but we've had quite a lot of rain so that's good. I have a feeling that when the wind direction backs W later this morning, the wind should increase to gale force but currently wind gusts are only touching 24 mph which is a little disappointing to say we were forecasted nearly 40 mph wind gusts.
  2. I totally am with you there on that but it's very rare that we see such severe weather and it has come at the wrong time but you probably won't see something like this for quite a while again in Summer.
  3. After reading the most recent posts and seeing the latest models, I'm not feeling that great about tomorrow. I could probably reach 35 mph at best which before I thought nearly 50 mph. Anyway, no more looking on the charts now and I'm just going to see what happens. Good luck everyone.
  4. Yeah, any wind gusts of 50 mph + are likely to bring down the odd tree even 40 mph at this time of the year can also bring down a tree if it's rotten and the ground is saturated which it could be tomorrow with all this rain. A possibly tricky situation tomorrow. I think the only journey I'll do tomorrow is Sidmouth.
  5. The system intensifies as it moves NEward from Cornwall, that's why only 40 mph is shown.
  6. I think if you don't want wind, you might be not too happy as they're going to be quite strong especially down here.
  7. Good luck everyone in the storm tomorrow, stay safe and enjoy it. Winds could be gusting between 35 - 45 mph inland and 50 - 60 mph on the coast. Could be one interesting day tomorrow.
  8. Here is my submission, I am only basing this on model outputs.
  9. Looking good for tomorrow now. Gale to severe gale force winds, especially when the wind veers W. Good luck everyone.
  10. We can do it I know we can! I am guessing looking at the models that we should see near 50 mph wind gusts here which is more like 70 mph - 80 mph in Winter.
  11. GFS is showing quite a storm in my opinion, if this pulls off, I'll be quite happy, gale force winds being shown here.
  12. It defenitely looks more encouraging for storm lovers, the track on the GFS is a bit far N for my liking but who knows.
  13. It's interesting that they haven't issued a wind warning.
  14. It does seem to be the cap but after a battery change, the message does disappear.
  15. Welcome to the forum, 1976!I am surprised at how uncertain things still are with just 2 days until it hits SW England. But, I would say to get a definite forecast of this storm, I would wait till this time tomorrow and then if models still show what I posted, then we could be in for a nasty spell of weather on Sunday. Even if we don't get the wind, many charts are hinting at a very wet spell of weather with rainfall totals widely above 40 mm leading to at least localised flooding so it's something to watch but not for much longer.
  16. Well I was just backing it up incase we all get excited and nothing happens with COULD happen, especially with the Met Office and BBC suggesting a path through the English Channel as being quite likely.
  17. Yeah, maybe though I wasn't born then. Anyway, the WRF-NMM wind gust chart looks encouraging. Wind gusts shown here widely of 45 - 55 mph with 60 mph possible somewhere even inland.
  18. Ok, not really sure what to make of this, I can't believe the forecasts are still confused with only 2 days away now. To be honest, this looks like a non-event, not very happy with this obviously. Just a bit of wind maybe touching gale force but that's quite normal in Summer anyway and just a bit of rain. Nothing to get worried about.
  19. Yeah, really I'm not going to look into any detail until later tomorrow/Friday onwards, it's just too uncertain. However, the BBC want to support the idea, so things are looking up.
  20. Yes, the GFS also agrees with this theory, the wind seems to be more SE when it reaches here and not as strong, we could still see a lot of rain though but for gale force winds, this is looking a little saddening.
  21. I don't mind non-damaging wind if there is a lot of rain to the point of getting interesting, it's just that the GFS, as you say, wants to suggest one hell of a summer storm.
