Anyone listened to the stupid ITV London forecast, think its a recording because I have caught him twice today saying turning colder the weekend, mini-beast, son of beast from the east on the scene, snow on the east coast but UNLIKELY to get into London, how can he possibly say that when its still 5/6/7 days out?
Really makes me mad!
I would see it as a good sign that they are at least talking about it plenty of time for it to correct south or north - it’s exciting and also as most of us have a done cold fix we can spectate in it with out it being all or nothing !!?

It’s like we are sleep walking into another major weather event !! Timings wise it keeps upgrading its going to be within the reliable shortly ....

Looks a lot like the 0z ECM with cold pool on a direct hit to UK!!
This seems to be upgrading in intensity and getting closer - crazy times and it’s so quiet in here !

regardless of the weather later in the month it is really un pleasant out today in Surrey ! almost continuous rain or heavy drizzle on pretty cold with 7c

Not too bad today, had some sun earlier but surprisingly the sun was really freezing; I had to go into the shade to get warm! Anyway, rain not far away now. Looks like a very mild day tomorrow for a change.
Not quite sure what point you are trying to make but seems a bit off - people are just recounting the weather today , it often doesn’t feel partic warm in the sun during winter and it’s been a pleasant surprise to feel some warmth today from the sun !

Did you think the sun would be cold?
It was a nice surprise to feel a real kick to the sun today in Cumbria, out of the wind it was great - 2 hour walk and I am a bit sun burnt !!

Freezing drizzle in Cobham it’s quite deceptive as it’s damp then you realise it’s frozen solid in your coat etc . Pavements are super slippy roads if they have been gritted ok . Temp -1.7c maybe a 3rd consecutive ice day ??

I love Hampton court I want to live there
Many people do actually live there in the ‘grace & favour’ apartments - nice for some

I can tell you that when they add to -8, your chances of snow are well above 100%....
Actually it could rain if uppers were warm enough and sliding over a cold pool !

5cm in cobham and the roads are terrible..... was really coming down earlier.... looking at the radar the wind has turned north so waiting for the next bit of fun
It’s looking great out there in Cobham took the dog for a late walk in Esher common and it was so light with the reflective snow cover - all the local roads were pretty well covered though.

I only wanted to see a couple of inches on the ground, but it seems this area has a permanent snow shield around it ?
I know these people bragging about their 9” is a bit tiresome

Everything heading to the south of me now. This event just keeps turning out to be a huge let down for us west of London.
If the low tomorrow / Friday doesn’t deliver, I’ll be glad to see Spring!
Don’t want to sound gloomy, but for this part of the region, it’s been absolute crap!
I can relate to that although we have a cm at the moment blowing around. I think it’s the fact that the conditions are so right for settling it’s a shame we just can’t get any depth of shower going even for say an hour !!

The pressure and temp is still due to drop considerably( thus increasing convection) plus a change of wind direction, all to play for, those not seeing much right now!
The drop in surface temps will not encourage convection our only hope is the convergence line

We may not have snow, but we have pathways that resemble the Curling lanes in the Winter Olympics. Take that.
(Can someone in Kent do a little snow dance and send it on its merry way towards Surrey? We don’t want much, honest. . . ?)
Yes mother of dragons it’s icier than the road to winterfell outside !!

Rapid fall of temp! -4.1c to now -5.4c in 30 minutes. This morning, we got down to -6.9c, should beat that comfortably
-3c here which is remarkable for so early in evening , can only imagine if we had snow cover !!

I’ll be honest - so far this has been a proper non event for Surrey hills. Flurries - yes - but not disruptive snow by any stretch of the imagination. It’s all too hot and miss - I would call it a downgrade from what was suggested just a few days ago.
Still 3 days left but there seems to be a lot of quiet and dry periods when I was expecting there would be showers around. We are always just on the edges of warning zones it’s too frustrating!
woke up this morning to nothing!
seen a lot of clear sky today - really need it to get it’s act together soon! Was banking on at least one snow-day this week so I could catch up with some work on a side project... ?
(... and because I like snow ⛄️)
Fair assessment for north Surrey too it’s been disappointing given the Synoptics! What has been amazing were the gin clear skies and very low dew points.
-
However temps have been impressive today at 1pm on Esher high st temp was -1.5c in brilliant sunshine like the Alps in April !!

To late in the season & not enough convection.

Nice covering of about 2-3cms here in Angmering, I'll definitely take it, considering that 2014-2017 was so abysmal for snow other than one minor snowfall in Feb '15 that melted by lunchtime. With that said, this is definitely no historic cold spell, but still the best in five years, and Yesterday until Friday is certainly still a very cold period.
Seems a fair assessment to me - not historic but good for those that have seen some action !!

Any chance we could keep betting and horse racing in Cheltenham in the proper thread - I don’t come on here to be enticed into betting / gambling etc . Cheltenham is not even in the south east ! Just a thought !
