correction was looking at two barometers lol fallen from 1002mb - 994mb ..... so 8mb drop in 3 hours
-
pressure down to 995 in southampton now ............. fall of 11mb in 3 hours .......
-
southampton ......... now 6.1 degrees .......... barometer 1001mb ...... slight fall in both
-
I do wonder, can the forecasters get it wrong and we get a blizzard tonight and rush hour chaos tonight, or just not possible?
rush hour chaos tomorrow maybe ..... in the morning snow
-
a quick update from southampton ....... temperature is currently 6.6 degrees ......... barometer 1002mb ........ overcast ....... i also spoke to my local policeman and he said the police have received an email from met warning of very strong winds ........ maybe it could still swing north a little .......
-
i am based in southampton . wondering watching and waiting ..... we are right on the south coast ....... maybe no snow ..... maybe no wind ?
-
they still dont have certainty on the track but they are saying that far south coast is most likely scenario . also said " snow could become more the real problem in wales central england midlands and eventually southern england ..... exciting times ahead
-
john hammond just give 70mph for tonight on south coast
-
I posted the link five minutes ago ..
i watched the video . interesting . as minutes before laura tobin gave two scenarios indicating 70mph or 80mph gusts
-
The Met Office have released another video. They are confident now that will miss the Southern England, and the wind watches have been confined to Southern coastal counties. Breezy and wet down here i would say.
that is not what the forecast just said on bbc
southern england braced for 70mph - 80mph gusts with snow to the northern edge of the low regardless of scenario 1 or 2
-
i have a feeling that it will affect south coast too ........ people are talking of 80mph too ..... that is hurricane strength gusts ......... we were only in the midst of very nasty weather two nights ago here and i think that was only 50 - 60mph gusts ........ interesting times ahead
-
one difference that was 24 years ago . by tomorrow the data will be nailed . lets look at the situation as it develops . there will be further " accurate " warnings issued by the met by tomorrow if necessary i am sure
-
there are no similarities here . the 87 storm formed in the bay of biscay and came north across the english channel . 959 mb is much lower than we are expecting .
-
are we looking at something extraordinary in the south thurs/frid ?
-
east ? i got north east at about 35mph on my calculations
-
electricsnowstorm . i think you were right about the rapid intensification . compare the 0300 sat to 0400 sat
-
centre becoming much clearer on the 0400 sat if i am looking at the right area lol all seems on track to affect scotland and northern ireland now . moving northeast at approx 35mph
-
can anyone point out the centre of the system we are watching . things do seem to be moving N / NE on the latest sat pics .
-
i am not advertising but psychic work is my living . i do sense something quite dangerous with this storm . unfortunately it will probably mean the loss of life too . that is to be expected with this type of weather yes .... but i just get an uneasy feeling tonight ..... maybe i am wrong .... can it track south suddenly across the uk .....
-
i do get the feeling that there " is something about this storm " that will be unexpected . not to mention it will hit during daytime hours . trees in full leaf . anyone know if this is heading in a more southerly direction ? any sat pics to view apart from bbc . can anyone sense something nasty coming ?
-
pressure update southampton . wind increasing a lot in the last half hour . 1004mb
-
southampton .. current pressure 1005mb . feeling breezy with trees swinging . ocassional blustery showers
-
hi peterf . yes i understand that concept . however these things always need watching . they can change track and often do . i believe it is now more southerly than it was even if only slightly . be interesting as the hours go on to see some nice sat pictures as it is developing . i have found in the 8 years i have been here that monitoring the hourly sat pics can give a great and accurate indication of the true path . often more accurate than the charts
-
according to the latest bbc weather .... south will have sunny spells . was not even any rain on the map with the low way up north
