  1. Epic storm in Orpington right now. Not sure I have seen anything like it before - especially the rain intensity
  2. Snow has pepped up where I am in Sevenoaks - not really settling yet however, looks like it will get heavier over the next couple of hours
  3. Not really downbeat. Most of the action was always going to be tomorrow.
  4. Not sure - there was an amber warning for up north too so it wasn’t unexpected. The radar doesn’t look that great for our region for tonight but it could change
  5. Wunderground now reporting Orpington as 5.9c so dropping off quickly.
  6. Reckon it will be fine, but a bit of a nowcast situation. The more disruptive stuff should be a bit south of your daughters route
  7. The original band of ppn looks like it’s breaking up with a secondary band incoming that is all snow. Maybe the first band will pick up some convection over land as it sinks south west. None of this stuff looks particularly exciting yet, although north midlands and Yorkshire doing nicely tonight
  8. I would imagine a Thames streamer would be great for your location Daniel. I lived in Greenwich for 2 years and it was generally rubbish for snow. Although they were rubbish winters generally (2014/5 & 2015/6)
  9. That was a concern of mine. I’ve seen heavy snow accumulate before and then thaw for the ground upwards. Hopefully the air temps of around freezing will temper that a little bit.
  10. Light drizzle in Orpington now. Wet surfaces aren’t going to help snow accumulation ?
  11. Yes. I’m not far from you in Orpington. We did slightly better on Wednesday than Friday. Up towards Chelsfield did ok,on the golf course there was still snow in the gullies last weekend despite a few days of double digit temps.
  12. I only managed a max snow depth of 5cm with beast 1, so won’t take much to beat it. Ground temps might bring in a degree of marginality as far as accumulating snow is concerned
  13. According to Wunderground temp up to 6.7 (from 6.4). Suspect that the cloud cover is responsible
  14. The front seems to be getting its act together and moving south west now
  15. I suspect the the temps and dew points behind the front will drop sharply. Been out in the garden again and it’s definately colder than before albeit cloudy. I’ll need to put my jeans on next time
  16. Car was showing 14c at lunchtime. Might have played golf if it wasn’t for pesky work
  17. Maybe the drier air will come with the uppers which are coming more from a Holland / Denmark direction
  18. Might stick but then thaw from the ground up- seen that happen before - not so much on concrete but on soil and grass
  19. I think this little cold snap might catch loads of people out. No one at my work was changing any plans they had for the weekend.
  20. Luckily I’m drinking red bull with my vodka, so could well still be up at that time
  21. NW radar suggests sleet in the Norwich area now. Anyone able to verify?
