Do any of the short-range H-Res models (ICON/Arome/Arpege/Harmonie/UKV/NMM/EURO4/Hirlam/Net-WX) actually have this modelled correctly in their latest outputs for this timescale? Because if none of them do, then there is little point worrying about the exact detail of what they are/are not showing over the coming days.

But it clearly is an upgrade for coldies?
Surely it is an upgrade, a step in the right direction in comparison to this mornings charts. Classic case of the gfs having a wobble then firming up on the pattern afterwards? ECM and GEFS will hopefully add some clarity...

Any chance of snow tonight? A lot of precipitation moving towards us during the early hours.
If it holds up I would have thought snow. No mountains to sap out the energy and favourable dew points! Depends if it makes it...

Its good but i prefer the 12z, however thats coming off a very high base in terms of quality so was unlikely to upgrade again.
Wondering if the 18z will become a hybrid of the ECM and GFS 12z. Interesting to see where this high goes

18z looking good! Ridge looks strong

Mostly clear and sunny with temp up to 7.8c this afternoon. Will be nice to see snow falling Thursday evening if it is very light. BBC forecast has light snow IMBY for much of the day

Brilliant sunny day here for what I could see from the office Now 2.9c still got a chance of seeing snow falling here on Thursday morning.
How do you think the met/BBC are picking up on this signal? Very light flurries as per the other night?

And so does the gfs 18z op, following on from the 12z control. Trends?
The high pressure building into Greenland in FI like you say has been present in all today's GFS OP runs, becoming more evident as each one rolls out. Something to watch out for tomorrow and in the ensembles ...

Trending colder by mid month surely! ECM 12z ens down to circa 5/6c max temps, 18z GEFS members looking promising with high pushing up towards scandi, and MO predicting cool down and blocking mid month. All around the Christmas period. I know it's FI but trends got to start somewhere?!

Keeping a glance at things tonight. Perhaps a dusting by morning over our highest parts?
-
-3.5c recorded overnight, coldest of the winter so far. Clear skies with a little mist
-
Clouded over here that patch of ppn very close!
-
Sleety showers on and off today. Max temp of only 3.5c recorded. Dew point 2.8c. Certainly felt more seasonal. Watching for showers overnight possibly turning more wintery!?
-
Very gutsy shout! Eagerly anticipating this evenings output

Sleeting, large flakes of snow mixed in. Dew point 0.5

Pub run continues the easterly theme, great charts in FI!

ICON and euro 4 had a decent stab yesterday, assuming it turns out that way - they were less keen today
