  1. I understand perfectly that weather will do it's thing, no forecast is 100%, that 77% of a storm is just a computer based figure and doesn't mean anything will happen. Which it didn't, according to the strike Map on the other thread, My location and MK in a tiny circle got no lightning today but 30mins down the road was lucky.

Thought this thread was to moan nay complain about lack of storms...?

  2. To be fair the storms always seem to go either side of us in bedford due to the topography, I would suggest going storm chasing after midnight tonight if you want to see anything! I will be on the tallest hill with camera primed towards the sandy heath tower, providing the strong cap can burst....

Yes, I find where I live now to be one of the most annoying places ever for storms. I used to work 30mins away and we had some lovely storms overhead, be it I was in a room with no windows..June28th 2012 classic example of storms being close but not close enough. Would love to be out and about later, but my little one wears me out!

Don't use that to determine how you're going to do! At the moment, I would say you're in a pretty good location for tomorrow.

I'm like a kid in a toy shop when it comes to storms, I have to say..Hubby doesn't quite understand the' look out of every window' and run out bare foot with a camera thing I have. Thunderstorms just knock out our sky and we normally lose power, and are a pain rather than something to be enjoyed. A-hem!

I dare say the fear of disappointment out weights the fact I might have some of the best storms I have seen since I moved away from the coast. And it's so easy to look at the worst forecast and accept that's what i'm getting rather than celebrate the fact the risk is there and very much alive.

But thanks for your input peeps! I kinda forget i'm a 'thunderhead' junkie as well as a storm freak and i'm sure even if I don't get a storm I will have some amazing clouds to look at and photo, and that;s something to look forward too :yahoo:

  3. CAPE values, from what I can gather from the Storm thread, have moved slightly more eastwards, which could help us.

No more warnings yet, because, quite simply, even at this stage, you cannot be sure about where the storms could/are likely to be due to how difficult to predict they are. Updated warnings will certainly be published tomorrow.

many thanks, here's hoping anyways! :D

  4. I fear Bedford is doomed for Saturday. I'm ever so loving the storm forecast for that day, although i'm sure it just needs to be updated.

I'm hoping that a cape of 2363j/Kg and an Li of -8 maybe quite good if it stays like that?

Just wondering why there isn't more warnings out there, if it could become quite bad in places. Still got the yellow in Met O but at least my light rain is now tah dah! Heavy showers.

  5. Think I'm going to go with 'light rain' and see what the clouds tell me on Saturday.

When i was living by the south downs. It was summer and my dad called me outside to show me the funnel cloud over the hills just before we had a storm. I wish I had, had some way of taking a picture then, could clearly see the rotation and everything- amazing. sadly it is the only one i have seem since and that was maybe 30 years ago.

  6. A lot of people I know find the weather boring, but when I younger I was very interested in fashion and would argue a girl needs to know what the weather is going to do, so to know what to wear! :good:

My late father would love to jump in the car and chase with me, we used to go all over Sussex and Kent and met with some lovely, rain too heavy to drive storms. The thing I like is the minutes before the storm comes - the heat, the humidity, the low rumble of thunder- just the anticipation of whats to come. Love going out for a walk during weather like that.

  7. @climate_eyes: hehe and have a safe trip!  :)

That day in 2012 started promising, woke up at 6:45 and it was already thundering, be it only a few bangs, Then around 10am the cloud began to build, it was hot and humid and you could feel the storm coming. And it did. Not overhead but MK got a soaking, and I had some amazing lightning I could happily watch without getting wet with thunder rolled in to. Sometimes having a storm that close is annoying and good at the same time I think.

  8. Hello!

usual look at the sky on the school run and it looked crazy - dark as you like, towers going up in minutes, Crazy. Thirty minutes later, thankfully when i was home the heavens opened, but no thunder.

Not jealous or anything about your storm. :nonono: nope.

I see your storm and raise you what i get over the weekend

Sorry to hear about your pet :(
