Big fan of deal, just purchased a property in the conservation area. Was planning to drive down this weekend but waiting to see how this pans out!
Ahh, sod's law says the weather gets in the way. Congrats anyhow, we've had our ups and downs in the area but Deal is a lovely place and I'm proud to call it home. Nearby Betteshanger country park is worth a visit too.

Although I live and work in Deal, I had the good fortune of studying a bachelor's in Politics at UEA in Norwich. Absolutely loved my time there 08-11 and even visited last year for a broads holiday. Always felt like a safe place to study and reminded me greatly of my nearest city, Canterbury.

You're jumping the gun a bit. There will be more snow in March...
If I see more falling snow in March, in Deal, I'll buy you a beer/wine/non alcoholic beverage

Well I'm just looking forward to the first french plume thunderstorm in spring, usually get a Kent clipper around April... Which is only next month! This has been a memorable cold snap and even if it's all gone by the morning I'm sure 90% of this forum have now seen and enjoyed a bit of winter.

Great showing. The finest snow I've ever seen, tiny tiny flakes. Must still be very cold up there. Just want to thank the forum as a whole for sharing photos and experiences this week, as well as knowledge and insight from a few notable individuals. I'll try to get some snaps in the next day or two now we have laying snow.
Loz in Deal.

'Snizzle' now in the rain in Deal. Hoping the flakes get bigger!

Still yet more freezing rain in Deal. Just took my dog to the park up the road as she was desperate to get out, once she was relieved she started scrabbling and sliding all the way back home! Idiot. Hoping to see some more snow-like PPN soon, as fascinating as this is, it's also treacherous and mildly terrifying trying to get anywhere at all.

Well I got sent home from work (the chippy I work at on the seafront in Deal was completely glazed with ice.) 6 foot icicles hanging off the pier and the roads were absolutely lethal. Had to dishwasher salt all round the shop and yard. Eager for some more snow now I'm home, although I'm not sure how much we will see. Stay safe out there!!!

Google maps is showing the M2 south is closed after Rochester. I would definitely check online for what roads are like.
I'm not sure about the major roads but I've heard a lot of local Facebook chat about the back roads around Deal being lethal and at least two minor crashes.

How to get to work - Walk, Cycle or Drive? Freezing rain has made this a crucial decision.

Yup, fine rain in Sandwich and the little snow I have is shrinking.
One day, that's all I wanted. One. Snowy. Day. Oh well, there is always next year.
I think it is starting to have a freezing element. It's not running down the windows and surfaces seems glazed now..
Damn Nature, you scary!

Can confirm just rain in Deal. Not the freezing kind either, just wet.

I'm glad to see PPN showing on the latest radar as far East as Rouen in France. Unlikely that these showers will survive to my location, but looking promising for those in the eastern parts of our region for later on.

once again for people asking
The forecast is for storm Emma to track up up the SW of britain
The large clump of PPN that everyone can see on the radar is going to push up with it
Some models take the eastern side of the PPN up through the shires, some further west- However we are not really looking at that YET
We should be looking along to the east of the main band to see if any instability builds in the form of showers
12-4 pm HERE
I'll be looking Steve!

Still very lightly snowing here although NW radar looks like it has already cleared. Hoping the moisture from the easterly/North sea can reinvigorate any fronts coming this far east/north. Otherwise for me it's all eyes to tomorrow morning!
Deal, East Kent.

Steady snow, albeit light and powdery, falling here from around 7:30 until now. Only a cm or less accumulated due to the winds and dryness, however that's more than the last 3 days combined in this locale. Much lighter in the last 10, radars shows back edge approaching. Hoping to get in on some more action later on but not sure whereabouts the next fronts/troughs/showers will develop and arrive. Fantastic wintery blizzard though.
Deal, East Kent.

Seems to be a slight growth in the PPN to the south (in the channel/french coast around le touquet) which may give us an hour or so more snowfall in East Kent if we are lucky.

Think for this cold spell, this is the best East Kent has done so far. I'm still confident we may see a prolonged period of light snow this morning and today. Don't think the front will clear as quickly or as cleanly as it appears on radar. ?

Bigger flakes in the fall. Settling. 4/10 in Deal. This is good.

Light flakes falling now in Deal. Pond remains liquid as does the bucket on the patio. Thermo says 0*c but I think it's just over, hopefully falling quickly otherwise nothing that falls will accumulate.
