My brother just sent me this pic. He lives in Donegal, Ireland.

They're all hyperventilating in the SE Thread about a Thunderstorm that has just crossed the South East. They've even hijacked the Atlantic Storm thread, a bit annoying.

How come when it's just rain we get soaked like today? But then when it's cold enough for snow it seems to miss our region?
Is there an actual reason or is it just bad luck?
Its the Great North West snow shield!

I did read somewhere tonight that it could be a storm that the UK experiences once every 10-15 years!!
Here perhaps... https://www.metcheck.com/UK/

I must have imagined it! Lol still cloudy and colder than earlier though.
Imagining it will probably be as good as it gets tonight!

Its only a model! No one knows for sure yet how it's going to pan out but one thing is for sure the charts aren't looking mild no matter how some people on here are desperately wanting them to be. Good charts for us coldies.

The gfs P is great and next Saturday 27thlooks good the run seems to be delayed in the UK I was confused by the comments of the run unless I need to go to specsavers its a good run?
In my opinion its good run, that Storm certainly needs keeping a close eye on, could bring some really Stormy conditions to our shores next weekend.

sleet but bettee than nothing
What is your altitude? I'm at 168m but just plain rain here.

Well Diane's about killed it ...or as the wife says ,I hope she knows more about the weather than her dress sense !!!.
What's she had to say then?
-
Wind picking up again now with showers not too far away coming in off the Irish Sea.
-
I haven't a foggiest if it will come off, but reading around from storm reports. It sounds like the snow is being forecast but just being sleety stuff instead sadly.
There is a weather warning on met office but it doesn't cover the whole region.
I live southeast Manchester and the warning if you look only covers the north of greater Manchester so it's not looking good for me from a met office forecast point of view.
Ps snow lover yeah it's the new gfs
Cheers mate. Hopefully there will be an upgraded Warning from the Met Office in the morning. I'm confident we'll see some snow tomorrow night, we're due some luck after last seasons abysmal Winter.

Are the Met Office taking the Swearing AGAIN with their Warnings? Coastal areas of the North West not under a warning.
EDIT: I stand corrected, they've just issued a separate warning for coastal parts of the Region.
