  1. It never ceases to amaze me how people can remember what happened in 1996 in September or whatever. I can barely remember what happened last year. So I wondered if you guys kept some kind or records/logs of what the weather is. What do you consider the most important facts to record and how do you record it. If find the history of weather fascinating and would like to keep some kind of record myself but don't really know where to start. For now I'm just making notes in my diary. Also I suspect many of you have weather stations. Do these do the job for you? Keeping all the records of information its recorded on a computer. I don't have a weather station, but any hints or advice would be most welcome. Thank you.
  2. The most remarkable thing about this thread is the sharp turnaround from a heatwave to snow in just 9 days. Is this still achievable these days or are we really in a trend where such dramatic changes are out of the question?
  3. Hello there, Max temp so far today: 20.2C at 10:50am Min temp so far today 16.3C at 1:15am Temp currently: 18.6C Weather, cloudy all morning, has tried to rain but only a few spots. I think tomorrow we will get the rain according to the forecasts.
  4. Its still early for frost in these regions I think, although I'm certainly looking forward to when they arrive.
  5. Well going on these posts, I'm really hoping that we can have the cold pool and the synoptics together this year. It seems there is always light at the end of the tunnel and although another '63 is highly questionable, I'm happy to think we could still have another 1981 which is still clearly imprinted on my mind.
  6. Hello Lowest temp so far overnight was 10.2C at 1:24am this morning. The maximum we've had today is 19.9C and its been dry with the occassional glimpse of the sun. Temperature currently 18.7C. Hopefully we will hang onto this weather a little longer.
  7. Temperature: Max: 17.4°C Min: 12.4°C Dew Point: Max: 13.3°C Min: 8.9°C Humidity: Max: 92% Min: 61% Grass Min: 11.7°C Wind Speed: Mean: NNW @ 9.2 mph Max: 30 mph Max Rainfall Rate: 11.4 mm/hr Low Wind Chill: 10.6°C Courtesty of Clifton Weather as I don't have the power!!!!
  8. Thats great, thanks Nick. So I suppose we use the CET as a benchmark when considering our own monthly mean figures and as the definiative figures when comparing previous months/years.
  9. Oh I see, thanks for that The Pit. And there was I thinking I was learning something. Well I am now I guess.
  10. Wow an awful lot of info there Mr Data, but very interesting thank you. I find it hard to believe that a CET in one month can have a corresponding effect on a CET in a later month as I think it all boils down to the chaos theory. Mind you seeing as this June was very warm from what i recall, then I'd love to see a cooler December this year. Those 2 Decembers that had the CET of above 5C, were they recent or way back when?
  11. According to Clifton Weather, which is the nearest station I know of to me, the August mean is currently 17.1C. I'm assuming this is the same as the CET?
  12. All the pictures here are stunning, but special mention to John Cox, Wibs and O-O-N great photography. I have an incredible urge to get myself down to the seaside now, or out into the countryside.
  13. Distant rumblings of thunder. Temperature has dropped from around 18oC this morning to around 12.5oC now.
  14. Yes, can also hear very distant thunder. The temperature has dropped drastically too. From around 18oC at 10am, is now at around 12oC. Bloomin cold here.
  15. Temperature 17oC Dew Point 16.5oC Humidity 96% Wind N @ 6mph Barometer 1015.5hPa & Steady Conditions - consistent rain
  16. Temperature - 21oC Max today - 24oC @ 3pm Wind - WSW @ 1mph Dew Point - 8.6oC Humidity - 44% Barometer - 1019.7mb Falling Slowly If I could pick a perfect days weather, it would have to be today - gorgeous.
  17. Temperature - 15oC Wind - WNW @ 3mph Dew Point - 14oC Humidity - 94% Barometer - 1015 (rising slowly) I was woken at 2am this morning by the loudest clap of thunder and realised we were in the middle of a storm. However, I have not found any comments on here to colaborrate this or any mention in weather forecasts so I am wondering now if I dreamt it. Are there any indications that we had a storm here this morning? Did anyone else locally experience one?

  21. Now raining here and loads of nimbostratus.
  22. Had some good sunny spells this morning with intermittant cloud. Now gone very dark with some very dark clouds. Who's idea was it to get the paddling pool out?
