  1. Lightning skirting up the North West side of Clyde behind hills - about 10 rumbles in the last 1/2 hour and seen a few of the flashes - whitey pink and illuminating hills - nice!
  2. Looking at http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ seems most precip (at the moment) is going over the Highlands and through the South of Scotland, leaving a 'dead zone' through central belt.
  3. Must've missed that one, it did look quite "orange" down towards greenock earlier but seemed to break up as it got to the port.
  4. Surfaces more or less dry apart from standing water in drains (that council never clear of leaves!) fairly dry but still windy and cold last few hours, although long rumble of thunder ten minutes ago and broken up shower passed through providing a bit of hail but nothing much really - blink and you'd of missed it.
  5. Heard we're going to get strong winds and big waves - that's just swell!
  6. Biblical hail this morning at half 6 everything whiteout and still on and off showers hail/rain.
  7. Traffic Scotland got warning out for Strathclyde, Central/Tayside and SW Scotland Lothian & Borders concerning potential snow to lower levels early Friday morning - meaning most of us will miss it unless you're going to be a lampost jockey and stay up all night, plus on a personal and regrettable note, Inverclyde is not on the warning I suppose it'e even lucky to be getting these warnings at all so early in the season, especially after the obscenely bad (Not the good type of "bad"!) winter last year. http://trafficscotland.org/
  8. 11oC & dank etc. here in Paisley (where I work)
  9. Yep - same here no frost after last nights temp dip and frost, although no wind or rain here yet (Good)!
  10. It's defo not an area to be in if you like snow. I remember looking at that famous white out map of Britain in Winter 2010/11 and the Clyde area and Ayrshire coast were about the only green bits on it!
  11. Too close to the coast and not enough elevation still pishin down, tbh didn't hold out much hope for any snow event here so not too down heartened. Car stat says 0.5oC but it's been a bit flaky (Excuse the snow pun) recently! Glasgow airport however was at 4 about an hour ago, now says 3oC....and sunny!!
  12. Nothing here in Clyde area - I think there's a big snow eating beast behind the hills here, or he's got a big blowtorch!
  13. Bit of a hit and miss here on the Clyde seem to be getting showers pushing along the Argyll hills north of Clyde into Dumbarton area and only getting the sleety rain from the edges of the passing showers here - but good to see people are reporting it enjoy - hills are getting whiter to lower levels too. Hello blitzen thanks for the welcome! Andrew
  14. Heard what sounded like rain battering off West facing window early this morning so thought maybe have to wait till later for chance of anything but getting a light snow shower now.
  15. Aye you'll get a good covering up there, I usually here from people up in Devol while it's snowing there I'm getting rain here - oh well wait and see time I suppose! Andrew
  16. Hello Ross yes another port Onion here I'm in the Posh West of the town up behind the big Tesco. Really I'm about 60 meters up but tomorrow just might take a walk up the golf course to get some elevation if you know what I mean! Get away from all that pesky Clyde coast rain/sleet mix! Where abouts are you in the port? Andrew
  17. Thanks for the welcome Scottish Skier - it's certainly looking a bit more interesting than last year. Hoping to see something on sunday, even a flurry or so I'll be happy enough - a blizzard would be good though! It's hard to imagine that happening with the way the weather is right now. In saying that last night about 2AM was severe frost - don't think I've ever seen it actually white almost like a blanket of snow on cars and crackin leaf patterns. Andrew
  18. Hi Everyone I just joined and would like to say hello out there to all the weather geeks (!). I didn't see an official intro thread so thought here was best as this is where I'll be spending most of my time. Apologies if this is not in the correct place and for taking the topic slight off on a tangent. I'm from port Glasgow in Inverclyde and I think there's a Ross here who is also from the port! Andrew (Grifter)
